Rack & Pinion Steering

Rack & Pinion Steering
The 82 Camaro roller I bought has stock steering in it. It now has a big block in it and the steering sucks. I would like to put in a rack and pinion setup but don't know what I might be getting into. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Why does your current steering suck? I run a manual steering box from an S10 in my drag car and it works just fine.
There's a lot of work to convert to rack and pinion. It's not a simple bolt in conversion. Most people who do the conversion also replace the k-member and a-arms so the rack has proper mounting brackets on the k-member.

What about putting in an astro or cherokee steering shaft to give more room around the headers and get rid of the stock rag joint? Lots of how to's on here

Re: Rack & Pinion Steering
I have a rack in mine, and alky is right, I bought new K-Member with rack mounts already installed on it. But I love it, I also have shorten arms on my spindles. Steers easier than any manual steering that I have ever driven
