Re: My 5.3L 91 Z28 build thread (goin to be slow)
the thing about using the 700r4 you need to buy a special tv cable from 700r4.com and if you have a billet throttle body like mine, you need to send your throttle body out to get a custom bracket made for the billet throttle body. my custom kit from bowtie was $225 and then you need a lock up kit which is 35. if you have the stock throttle body they make a kit for 150 i think. the only reason i did it because my trans was built to handle tons of abuse from pro street transmissions. i would kill this idea if your 700r4 is stock.

Re: My 5.3L 91 Z28 build thread (goin to be slow)
When I first began I was going to use the 700R4 as well but as time went on and I added up the costs....it would be stupid to use the 700R unless you had a ton of money into it because the cost of adapting it to the LSx motors cost just as much as a used 4L60E. Then you would have enough beef to handle the motor and adjustable shift points....

i would say smog the car first before you put the engine in, it's not going to be fun to get it through smog. my car is going to be a pain, but i know i can get it too pass.

That grill you made doesent look as bad man, good work.
I like the rims it gots now there badass on thirdgens.
What I wanted to do was get the center caps that come on the crager rims where they bolt up using allen keys. I wanted to drill in the rim so I was able to do that but never got to it hopefully you will.
Tony.

keep up the good progress, are you going to keep the a/c? When do you plan to have your car running by with the 5.3l?

The engine bay looks awesome man! The only thing I regret during my swap is not taking the time to paint my engine bay!

I like the flat/satin finish you chose. I painted one of my old thirdgens' bays like that.

alright so this is what i decided to mount the ECU. think itll work. made up the fuse/relay box and connected it to my harness last night.

Re: My 5.3L 91 Z28 build thread (goin to be slow)
nah not goin to do a/c. i thought about it and im so used to not havin a/c that it wont even bother me.
depending on how things go this next week i should have a trans and the motor should be in.
did this today. thought it looks alright wish the screens would have lined up straighter after i riveted them in.
also since the cars down im goin to attempt to build this hood. i was goin to do a cowl but wanted to do something different. hate seein cars that all look the same (like 4th gens).
my buddy did this photoshop for me, the hood wont be carbon fiber though.

Thanks!
