Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
sorta kinda. mainly because im also building a new rear housing, and i want to tuck the tires and get it low. also i want the ability to run a wide range of tires should the desire arise someday in the future. once im done with the minitubs, rearend, rear floorpan mods, motor plates, and a few other things its getting a new cage. (my old one was an 8 point all 1-3/4" ms)
most likely going to ditch the 4th gen dash and go back with all 3rd gen stuff again.

i like the idea of the minitubs for low stance and wide tire selection. when you say floor pan mods, are you making way for torque arm clearance for the low ride height? if so, i'm interested in pictures of that too

Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
i have a gazillion other ideas brewing around in my head- many of which will be alot different than the typical way of doing things.
should get back on it this weekend. i will be taking pics along the way.

Hey Orr. Let's elaborate on this.
I was in conversation with Matt about this very thing.
I'm using air bags to lift the rear of the car and get a better angle of the LCA relative to the ground.
I need some tuning as my 60' time has gone of about a tenth and half south since the new engine was planted.
I could use some rear world analysis and experience.
Thanks for the thread Alky.

Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
I havent tried airbags but car does twist slightly over pass side rear looking at some pics. I need more vids of launch up close.
I only 60 ft so far with about 450-500 whp off the hit ramping to 700 ish by 60 ft my guess. Any more power it will blow them off 40 ft out. Car should be atleast a tenth quicker.
That seems more shock control as it unloads. See my 8.95 vid

A rear sway bar (anti-roll bar) can also help to limit that body twist. Best suspension component I ever put o my 4-link car.

I was very happy with last Spring's "off the trailer" performance.
"0" tuning "0" problems and ran 10.5s all day but I got busy at home and when I had time to play in the fall the weather turned to crap.
My goals for 2015 are:
To get out to the track at least once per month for test & tune to optimize my setup.
Run in the index class ( 10.2 index) at track outings with my car club

The car club I am a member of has track days and they run a 10.2 class. I won't be competitive running 10.5s but I am sure I can find a couple tenths in this thing to make it fun. Really just an excuse to go race versus test & tune and hang out with some fellow members/racers.
I suppose if you had enough guys at your track to organize you could do the same.

Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
what 60' goal are you aiming for?
I need to dial in timing. I pulled out timing from the engine dyno session to keep the engine safe until I got used to it. The plugs looked great so this year I will add timing until MPH stops increasing.
Main jetting I sure I am a bit fat but I would prefer to be safe than sorry once I add timing I may add some jetting but if MPH falls off I will leave it a baseline maybe try 3 jets smaller to see if there is more MPH to be had, but I don't want to lean it out too much.
Maybe a wideband O2 with data capture would help?

Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
my 60' is only off that mark by .1 some work with tire pressure should remedy that.
If I can pick up some MPH and drop a bit of ET just throwing some timing back I may just leave well enough alone for now, especially if I hit the 10.20s and enjoy this season index racing the car. spend more money for upgrades later.

well so far its looking like ill be good for 2015
should have the new turbo hotside done this weekend
the rest of the th350 parts will be here monday,, ultrabell, case , manual vb , trans brake. so should get that up and built here by feb
still dont have a converter for it but i think im either going with a freakshow or fti converter in the 3,500 range
other then still lots left to do.
need to finish the dana 60 and also finally get the fricken cage installed , ive been putting the cage off for so long cause i hate putting them in , not going to have a choice this year though since im looking ot make some big big power on the 88mm turbo

I did find a house that had a huge garage and one of the doors was big enough that you could have put a 4x4 in it. I hated the house so I passed on that one.

When I bought my house, I was looking more at the garages than the houses. The house I finally picked had a nice garage but the ceiling doesn't allow me enough room for a hoist or I'd have one installed already.

Just moved across the country and now the search is on for a suitable residence. Priority? A shop with a hoist. Or one with enough room to put one. Or property with enough space to build one...

Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
True, but on a V engine unless you have two of them you are only getting half the information. and even then it's just any average reading for the 4 cylinders the header is connected to. But reading the plugs tell no lies and removes all doubts.
From what I have seen the real crews rely on EGTs and they have a probe on each primary pipe. That is how we dynoed the engine so I am very comfortable that the carb jetting and timing is pretty darn close to where it needs to be.
I just retarded the timing a bit as a safety factor until I got comfortable with the engine in the car.

Moving to Alberta or headed east? If Alberta i'd hold off on buying, if values aren't coming down already they probably will be in the very near future.

Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
I'm really hopeful that I can get to spend some time at the track, and if I finally have all the pieces playing nice together, I should be able to get the car well into the 10's after going backwards last year. I finally had cracked 10's in 2013. Over that winter I did a handful of updates including swapping out the intake from a weiand team G, to an edelbrock super victor 2892, that ended up being too much for the motor. Top end was great, but took away too much down low. Motor wouldn't make good power till 5000rpm, converter flashes at 4000rpm. Was also a very busy summer. only made it to the track twice. So I'm going from the Edelbrock to a Strip Dominator, and I'm changing the rear gear from a 3:90 to a 4:30.

My goal for last year was getting the '57 back at the track, which I achieved. As a result, I didn't make a single pass in the 3rd gen last year. However, my son had issues with his vehicle, so he ran the Camaro and ended up doing well enough to receive end-of-season honors. Not sure what he's going to do this year, as his vehicle is back up and running again.
For me, 2014 was a chopped up season, as I missed at least one race in every class I ran in. I actually brought home more trophies than I did in 2013 when I won a season championship in one class (in the Camaro), but they were spread out between too many classes. For this year, small things on the '57, hopefully make it a little more consistent, and maybe do well enough to be at the top of a class or two again.

Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
My 2015 goal is to break into the 1:24's on the local track. Oh btw, i'm an autoX/RR guy. Made my goal last year, made it down to 1:25.2. Got third place for the year. Lost to a New 5.0 and a C6 corvette. I can handle that.
I also have a drag racing goal for 2015 since it looks like I'll be able to do my '01 LS1/t56 swap this spring. I'd like to run a 12.9 but i'd be happy with a 13.0-13.1. Faster than all my Mustang buddies!!! I bought LT headers but will use OE manifolds and a TPI air intake so don't go up a class in autoX. I can change the TPI intake out for a CAI when i'm not autoXing.
My biggest goal is not to grenade the 10 bolt!!!
Congrats!!! Wife and I welcomed our first child into the world Dec 28. TAX CREDIT!!!

All I want is a 10 second pass. With some more tuning and a decent launch I think it's obtainable.

A 8 sec. time slip!
Finished last year oh so close. 2015 goals is to go rounds in the local 9.60index class and get that elusive time slip. Only 30 passes on the motor so let the tuning begin!

Make it to the track this year high 6.9's or low 7's in the 1/8 mile. Even if I don't get that this year I jus want some seat time in the car.

Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
Make it to the track this year. Last pass on the car was in 2008 and it ran 11.60's on a N/A 406.
Of course when you have the car in the air to change something it snowballs. Was going to just change the trans from a 700r4 to TH350....did that and:
Removed A/C
Relocated battery to trunk well
Installed Spohn Drag Bar, Spherical LCA and Panhard rod, QA1 SA shocks
Converted to manual steering box and electric water pump
installed Titanium retainers and stud girdle
Lets see if it will go 11.59 now.

1.4X short times
Break into the 10's
win at least 1 race this year
have a year where the only thing I need to do to the car between races is change the oil.

how many runs do you make before you change the oil? i usually put about twenty passes or so on mine unless the pressure is a little lower than normal.

Yeah. Moved back to Alberta and I'm seeing (or hoping to see) a trend in lower real estate prices. What I DO see are a lot of "toys" going up for sale...sign of the times I guess.

Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
Yes sir, mph down about 3 mph compared to racing at 600' above sea level as opposed to 2300'. DA on Friday with 3°C temps, pressure at 101.1 kpa (29.85" Hg) and 75% RH was 1650'. Corrected times were 2/10ths quicker. On the Ontario, my home track back home had a DA on Friday of -745'!
Hoping for better air and better tires the next time out. Tires because the best 60' I could lay down was 2.0 compared to my best of 1.71. 10 year slicks will do that to you.

Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
Sorry guys, late to the party.
My goals for 2015 are very simple. Get back to Racing.
After losing my car in 2009, then my local track closed down the next year it looked bad.
The track re-opened a couple years ago and now we are lucky enough to have an outlaw 1/8 mile track close as well.
I was able to land a roller march 2014 and even though I had to change a lot on the car I was able to get it out last month. I was hoping to just be able to make some decent passes and collect some info for adjustments. Turned out the car is set up pretty close( thanks to all of you and the info you guys provided on this site.)
We won the heads up 6.0 class at the outlaw track first time out. Great way to start.
Unfortunately the next Wednesday I was making my license runs at the big track and lost oil pressure on the top end. Spun two rods and scarred the crank.
Thought that was it for 2015.
Got really lucky and was able to repair the crank for under $500
Picked up my parts today and should be up and running again soon.

Finally started the LS swap. Going to use the long tubes and CAI. Donor car is tore down. Working on tearing down the 92.
Also having the 10 bolt rebuilt by Quick Performance. They are only 45 minutes away. Should be between $500-600 depending on some options I choose. Going to throw in some 4.10's while it's there. This rebuild is to get me by until I can afford a StrangeS60.

Modest as it was, I managed to meet my goal too.
12 second time slips on opposite sides of the country from my daily driver . But as AlkyIROC pointed out, dealing with the elevation and density altitude at the new track is very humbling.

Re: What are your goals for the 2015 racing season?
thanks man , engines is going back in in about 2 hours , my friend/trans builder is going to get my th350 finished this weekend , would have been done already except i was missing 2 piston springs for the trans brake , and the output to input shaft seal.
got both of those now so should be able to drive this thing again by next week, im prolly going to get the transmission in on sunday , unless it happens to be together early enough on saturday to pop it in the car
september 19th is the day im shooting for to go racing for the first time in a long time , though honestly im just going to make some shake down runs , new cam in the motor + i switched from twins to a big single turbo so im going to have a good bit of tunning to do
