Car: 1987 Firebird Formula
Engine: 350 TPI
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: .373
Steering problem
First off, didn't really see a better place to post this, if I'm in the wrong spot let me know. Was driving my 87 firebird a couple weeks ago and the steering wheel started shaking violently as I started driving (no it wasn't speed, I was doing 40 mph tops). Took a look at it, and there is about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch vertical play in my rag joint. Talked to my friends dad about it who is a gm guy, said on his he had a similar problem and that the intermediate shaft needed to be replaced. Anyone else heard of this problem and know what the best fix is? (I didn't even find the shaft on the first couple websites I looked on)

Should you need a replacement, note that many members are replacing with Jeep or Astro Van shafts, which eliminate the rag joint. A search will provide more info. The following will give you the idea:
