wrong power steering pump?
for years my power steering pump has had a slow leak in it. I finally descided to do something about it.
I ordered a new pump and res from AutoZone, yanked the old pully and pump, and waited for the new pump to come in.
when i went to mount the new pump, i had issues.
Here is the old pump...
Here is the new pump...
If you cant spot the difference, the reservoir on the old pump is tilted, so it can be mounted to the bracket correctly. The new pump, its straight up and down, Is there some way to loosen the pump to align this correctly, or is this the wrong part.
I asked auto zone to check the part, and they say its correct. If its not correct, can someone give me the right part number?
87 IROC TPI.
Thanks guys

Can't tell anything looking at it from the front.
What do they look at from behind? (since that's where all the parts that determine "clock" are)

Re: wrong power steering pump?
yeah, so i'm frigging stupid. just checked autozone's website and even the pictures are different. I could have sworn the brackets for an 87 IROC with TPI and a 90 IROC with TPI where the same. apparently not.
I'm going to try and return the hose and the PS pump and get the correct part.

Re: wrong power steering pump?
Finally got the correct power steering pump, but screwed up the threads with the cheap pulley installer from auto zone. I tried getting the pulley on with a hammer, but now the shaft is screwed up, so they are replacing the pump. What size bolt goes into the shaft to mount the pulley? I think im going to pick up a big bolt that fits the installer and is a bit harder to screw up. I'm wondering if the one in the kit is either too soft, or the wrong size.
Thanks
Thanks
