Dyno numbers!!!!! (LT4 hotcam)

Well I finally got to makes some runs on the dyno with a wideband o2 hooked up. I made 3 pulls, all within a few hp of each other. Here aremy numbers:

275rwhp and 330rwtq

My motor is:
STOCK crank, rods, and pistons(not balanced)
stock heads, gasket matched w/ polished combustion chambers
TPIS ZZ9 valve springs
Comp 1.6's
siamesed intake base
STOCK runners
STOCK 48mm TB
ported plenum
24# LT1 injectors
LT4 hotcam

good wires, ignition, coil, MSD, etc
LT headers w/ 3" exhaust

*I think thats about all that I have on it. What do you guys think about my numbers? I just started tuning the chip in it, and my o2 readings were good all the way until about 5k rpms, then it leaned out a little. Other than that I'm pretty satisfied. I can't wait to get my LT1 intake on and some good heads.

Pretty damn good for stock heads, only 30 hp away from LS1 territory! I'd love to see someone dyno 300 rwhp with stock L98 heads. Everyone knows they suck, but I want to push them to the limits and see what they're really capable of before I throw them away.

Thanks man I think 300rwhp is possibly with my heads. They're basically stock with gasket matching. I'm gonna dyno after I put the LT1 intake on and maybe some new exhaust and tuning. I think I'll make 300rwhp!

Oh I think you'll pass 300RWHP with an LT1 intake and a carefully burned prom... IMO 300RWHP with your mods and then the LT1 intake/new tune, is a conservative estimate.

youll easily hit 300 with the LT1 intake. You need some different heads though, L98's suck

That's pretty good. I think with some prom tuning and with a bigger TB and bigger/siamesed/ported runners you should reach 300 RWHP. I believe Kevin91Z has the alum L98/ZZ4 heads and with a TPIS manifold, bigger runners and ported plenum, and SLP 1-3/4" headers he's pulling 310-320 RWHP. The intake is probably choking you so far. What's the dyno graphs look like?

Its almost the same as the miniram.... if I don't gain HP or move up my powerband I'm gonna be pissed. Then again I'd only be out of $300, but honestly I can't believe that it won't gain some power or RPM range.

Whats up Chris? I think it will go 300 too with the LT1 intake. I'm wanting some AL heads, but these L98 irons aren't as bad as everyone says. I think they'll go over 300RWHP with some more stuff.... how much further I don't know!

Thanks man! I don't think a bigger TB would help me at all. I'm a big non-believer of bigger TBs on our motors from what I've seen! As for runners and stuff I thought about that but I'm going with a LT1 intake that I almost have ready. I'm not sure that my intake is choking me that much right now, but I'm sure the runners are. I ported my intake quite a bit and I siamesed it about 4" down. I guess thats contributing to my low torque numbers. I need to scan my dyno graph to show you guys. Basically I had 300RWTQ from 2,000-5,000rpms and my HP peaked at about 4900-5000rpms but only lost about 10 hp on its way to 5500rpms. I'm really curious what this intake is going to gain me. And BTW, my LT headers aren't that great at all. They're like 1.5"-1.625" and are hammered in in a lot of places for frame clearance! I think I'm gonna get some Hooker SC LTs 1.75" but I'm not sure if they'll clear my T56. Oh well, thats it. Later

My expereince with the Miniram the one time I used it was very positive. In cars with similar weight and gearing I swapped the EXACT SAME long block- heads. cam, etc. and went from 13.0 @ 108 to 13.0 @ 111, with the second car being more traction limited. Boy did the Miniram rip on the top end versus the old carbureted dual-plane intake setup (which was thoroughly dialed in by yours truly to the Nth degree)!

Had the LT-1 intake swap been available at the time we probably would have done that instead of the Miniram- it's a pricey sucker!

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Yes I'm using the batronix burner with WinXP and it works just fine. No problems at all!

Miniram, sweet but expensive....
LT1 intake, pretty nice and cheap....

Great numbers man. Can't wait to get my 85 done. I'm thinking I'm going to go with the lt1 intake on mine as well.

It'll be cool if you do the lt-1 swap and post your gains on the dyno. It will be even cooler when you then swap your stock heads for a set of AFR/Trickflow's and post the gains on the dyno from that. I think you'll be around 350-360 rwhp after those two mods, since you're good with chip-burning. At least I've seen about 360-370 hp from lt-4's with hot cams on the corvetteforum.
Good Luck!

Yeah, thats exactly what I plan on doing. That way I can show people exactly what can be gained in each step. I'm very curious myself.....
