Differential Temp Sensor
Hey guys.
Today while draining my gear oil and changing it out for some amsoil severe gear I had the idea to attempt to mount the old temp sensor from my motor in the differential case just for the sake of returning some sort of functionality to my stock temp gauge.
I got briefly excited when I saw that the thread size and pitch of the temp sensor was a perfect match to both the drain and fill plugs of my summit girdle cover only to be disappointed when I discovered that I could not install it into the fill plug location because the bolt head design of the sensor just barely missed clearing the bearing cap stud casting in the cover and I could not install it into the drain plug location either because it only went in about 1.5 turns before it hit the housing and couldn't go in anymore (Aside from that it wouldn't have cleared the sway bar once the suspension was loaded. Talk about an oh crap moment).
I don't see a problem installing a sensor into the case drain plug location but the threads were not compatible (Sensor was too small).
Has anyone installed a temp sensor into their diff and if so what sensor did you use and where did you mount it?
I realize this isn't really necessary but I figured "why not".
