Re: 700R4 no 2nd gear
Doing a Search on the Internet about the same issue for my 700R4 Transmission in my 1969 Camaro SSRS 427 BB (343 HP, 483 TQ) and having been a Certified Trans re-builder (in the early 70's, Never worked on a newer Trans, I felt it still has the same operating process as Clutches/ Drums and Bands.
Sorry, It's not Third Gen but the Same Trans I need help with.
I did have 2 IROC 5spd Conv.
The Trans is from a "Performance Mail order shop" & lifetime Warranty, so my first mistake - wished I had just gone to a Local Performance Shop and bought what I needed - My Bad, you don't expect to have to return these.
They want it back and I have to pay shipping. I have about 340 miles on it, few Burn outs but nothing extreme, did buy it to use "mocking up" my Build and had it in the car for about 15 months before I even started the Engine.
In Drive, I feel I can drive from CT to CA, no problems, All Up or Down Shifts are Strong, 1 - 2 is nice, Can drive Thru into 3rd Standing on it.
Go to the Manual side of the Valve Body,
1st is Strong,
2nd is like shifting into Neutral,
Back off and it will up-shift into 3rd and then 4th.
If I down-shift from 4th to 3rd, Nice.
3rd to 2nd, NOTHING
Slow the car down and shift into 1st, will catch and slow the Car down in 1st.
I was told the 2 - 4 Band is active for this, I do not believe it is a Pressure issue from the Pump but a Pressure Supply Issue to the 2 - 4 Band thru the Manual Side of the Valve Body ?
Anyone who has this problem find a solution ?
