Car: 1986 camaro Sports Coupe
Engine: L31 350
Transmission: 89 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.42 gov lock
700r4 without OD?

would it hurt my tranny if i didnt install the OD kit for it when i do my carb motor swap? basicly i would have a 3 speed without OD. any side effects?

YES over time.... It will overheat and destroy itself.. The OD kit isn't that much and depending on which one you install. only take a couple of hours

You should still have your overdrive (4th gear) but you won't have the lock up. I've been running mine in the city without lock up for months, haven't gone on the freeway though
