1984 4 Cylinder 4 speed question (clutch / Trans)
I just replaced my clutch on my 1984 4 cylinder, 4 speed manual and I have no gears. The new clutch is in, the drive train and transmission are lined up. I am able to put the car in gear and disengage the clutch but i am not getting any grab on any gears. consensus is that i need to bleed the clutch because it may be sticking. Any ideas?
Also, I am unsure of what transmission fluid i need for this 4 speed 4 cylinder. I have been told to use Dextron 3 automatic fluid but i am hesitant to do so. I would think a thick gear oil is a better bet.
(I apologize if this is the incorrect location to post this. I am relatively new to this forum.)

If a throw out bearing is too tall, it can keep pressure on the pressure plate. Did the trans slide in, or did you draw it in with bolts?
Did you pull the shifter at all?
I don't know what trans. is in the 4/4speed third gens but if it is a Borg Warner T4, absolutely run Dexron III with confidence.

I found some interesting news about my transmission today. My shift pattern is left and back, the iron duke stock transmission was a T4 but the T4's reverse is left and up. So dose that mean its a chevy nova tranny? This is my shift pattern.
