The site has been and will be undergoing maintenance to upgrade the CMS. In the near future we are planning to upgrade to a new version of MySQL and PHP.

Till this is completed the CMS will be down for short periods of time and may not look as it did before.

You may have noticed that yesterday the site was down for a short period due to server upgrades. We intend to make some more adjustments to this setup that will further increase the response times of ThirdGen.org.

Today we will be upgrading vBulletin to version 3.6 so the techboards will be down for a short while around 11am.

Attention all ThirdGen.org users! It took a little bit of time but we've managed to better organize your on going collection of Frequently Asked Questions here on the main page. If you get a chance hop on over to the FAQ page and see if there are any other questions that would fit into any sections. If you know of anything else that would be a great addition to this page contact JT with a link to the forum page that provides the content that we could turn into it's own page in the FAQ.

As you can see we're still working hard to make ThirdGen.org the best it can be. Feel free to contact us in the message boards with you ideas, suggestions, and comments.

Do you want to post images of your ride for everyone to see?  Want to let everyone know what you've got under the hood, how fast you've run, and what awards you've won?  You're in luck, we've just installed vBGarage!

For those of you who've never heard of vBGarage, it's a plugin for vBulletin that allows EVERY registered user to have a custom, personalized page where they can tell everyone else about their car and post pictures for everyone to see.  Interested?  I knew you would be.  Follow the directions below to add your car to vBGarage.  One last thing.  We've recently added a "Gallery" section to the site (see here).  All images uploaded by users into vBGarage will be reviewed and possibly posted to the main gallery.  If, for some strange reason, you don't want your car posted in the main gallery, please do not upload a picture (or make sure you upload a low-quality image that no one will actually want to look at).

vBGarage Directions:

1. Log into the ThirdGen.org forums.
2. Click "User CP" from the menu at the top.
3. Click "Edit vBGarage" on the side menu.
4. Fill out the form with all of the appropriate information.  You're free to write whatever you want in the "Text" field but please keep it about your vehicle and please keep it family-friendly.
5. To upload an image, click "Browse", select the file from your local computer, and then click "Submit".  Users are allowed to upload a maximum of 6 images, each no more than 150KB.

If you have large images that you want to post and you're using Windows XP, you can use the Image Resizer Power Toy from Microsoft.  This handy, free utility lets you resize images with little more than a simple right-click.  You can get the installer here.

Image Resizer Directions:

1. Install the file from the link above.
2. Open an Explorer window and select all of the images you want to resize.
3. Right-click on one of them and select "Resize Pictures".
4. Select "Medium" (800x600) or "Large" (1024x768) and then click "OK".  The images you selected will now be resized and will be given new file names that include the size you selected (ex. "IMG_0845" will become "IMG_0845 (Medium).JPG").  NOTE: some images may be larger than 150KB when using the "Large" setting.  If that is the case, you'll need to use "Medium" instead.
