The price is 159.95. I was told they will be ready in a week.
Here's all the info to call; TA Performance - 480-922-6807, 9-Bolt Borg Warner Rear girdle TA PN: TA-1802.
I sent TA Performance a "sh it or get off the pot" email yesterday. To my surprise, I got an email from them today!! Production looks like its starting!!
"We will be setting up to machining the first few covers starting at the end of today. We will the order enough castings to cover everyone who would like one. The first orders can have the first ones. To place the order folks will have to call TA Perf. no e-mail orders, as we spend very little time on the net. Sorry for the wait.

Mike from T/A Perf. called me today. The covers are almost done. Well, the first six are. They are going to take orders for a week or so to get a total. Then he will have the covers cast for the first run. The total will depend on the orders. ie. 55 orders= 100 first castings, 155 orders=200 castings. As was stated earlier telephone orders only. Their website is not set-up to take online orders. Mike told me they spend very little time on the internet and use it only to provide an online catalog. However Mike's wife went looking for this thread at the urging of a few of the members here as was shocked at the number of postings and at the discontent voiced here on thirdgen. He assured me that this project it at the forefront of his "Get it done" list.
Now, some news- Good, bad and otherwise
The price for us, that is all you reading this and whoever else you've been talking to will get the original quoted price of
************$159****************
Nice..... After this he will be raising prices on all his covers. As he told me overhead at T/A has grown and he has not changed his prices in nearly five years ( Ford currently sells his covers with thier logo for over $200)
Also, he highly recomends a stud kit for use with this cover. he will have a stud kit available soon. (around $20) You could probably make your own if you so desire.
I spoke with him also about some of the engineering that went into this rear cover. Our cover will have 3 holes. That's right 3 !!!
No big deal, the fill hole would have been right in the middle of the support ridge and Mike felt it would compromise the strenth and quality of the cover. The fill plug is now at the top of the cover and there is a 1/8 overfill indicator in place of the fill plug's original location. He also touched apon the idea of going to bigger studs. The stockers are only 3/8 and this is NOT good. most other rears use a 1/2 inch fastener. We talked about wether there is enough material on the housing and cover to drill and tap for at least a 7/16 stud ( this could be it's own thread)
There was other stuff as well but this post is allready too long.
Bottom line-Call and order now-Cover should ship in 3 to 4 weeks- Mike thanks you all for your patience and your input
-Mike Graycar
P.S. I tip my hat to Drain for getting this going to begin with.
Yep, just ordered mine. Mike said for everyone to be sure and order the stud get. It is virtually mandatory. If you placed an order and did not order the stud kit be sure and call back to order one. I'm real pleased he is holding the line on the price.
He has placed an order for 100 castings for the first go. So order soon if you want the first ones at that price. Allen

I just ordered mine also, and with the stud kit. The price was $159.00, and I think the price is very good.
The little Gal that answered the phone ws wondering what was going on, as they have inundated with phone calls all day for the cover. I told her that many of us have been waiting for the longest time for them to be finished, and now we finally have the go ahead to order them, that's what we are doing. She chuckled and said that we were very patient with TA so they could finish the Rear Cover...
Wow cool! Good thing I decided to check this thread on a hunch. I'm gonna order mine first thing in the morning! Again thanks to drain89 for originally starting this movement & also thanks to all others that persisted & bugged the hell out of TA to get this thing going Long live 9-bolt hardcore purists lol!
Are we ordering by the list order or someone that came in yesterday will be able to order before someone that is being waiting on the list for more than a year ?
First come first serve. They've been nice enough to agree to hold the original price for us and make sure there is enough castings for everyone on the list.
rear cover, stud kit, and 2 quarts of amsoil. I'll buy the GM Limited Slip directly from GMPartsDirect.com that way I can be sure it's a true GM additive.
I imagine he means at the $159 or $159.95, that's the introductory rate for us since we've been promised that years ago. So if you want a cover I would buy one in the next few weeks before they decide to hike the prices up. Think of it as a lower price because we did a makeshift GP while we were waiting.
Also now is the time to buy the GM stud kit also, because that price increases by $6 extra if you do not buy it along with a rear support cover.
Also I was told the wait time on my cover would be 3 to 4 weeks before shipment.

Woohoo!!! Just ordered my cover with the stud kit. It was so funny calling them. I called to say that I wanted to order a new product that they were just finishing up on & the lady on the line said, "Oh, so you want the 9 bolt cover right?". Hehe, she said that they are still getting hit pretty hard with calls with people ordering them. Nice lady & very helpful. I think her name was Virginia. Anyways, I can't wait to get it
First time I've checked the thread in a while and there is actually some progress beyond "ready in a few months". I've called and have my two on order.
i knew something must be up on this thread my inbox had like 5 updates to this thread. just got off the phone w/ TA and ordered my cover n stud kit. i think the final price was 179.00. im super happy this finally got through

right now no thirdgen
but i got a fourthgen
trust me ill be back i still like the 3rd gens better
SWEEET! I'm glad to hear they went the distance for you guys!
I'm sure you all know that I had no idea it would take this long when I first contacted them. But I'm glad I did. I'm glad that I could do something to help out my fellow members of the thirdgen community. Even though nothing tangible for me come out of it...the time I invested in this was worth it. I must admit.....I lost hope and bought a 12 bolt and sold my 9 bolt parts. A few others did too. A big shout out to MikeGraycar...he's the one who stepped up and spent his coin to send them the center of a 9 bolt to start design of this. And thanks to the many of you that called and bugged the sh!t out of TA. Like I said before...."a squeaky wheel gets grease". I hope this shows you guys that you do have power with the aftermarket mfg's to get stuff done for your cars. If we band together and come off a few measley dollars in phone calls and a few minutes of out time to drop some emails.....we could get alot more things produced for these cars. If there is demand....show them! These guys are in the business to make money and if you show them the market....they'll accomodate you.
It's ironic...but I just hauled the housing off yesterday to the scrap yard. Oh BTW...I have a set of 9 bolt axles from an 89 TTA that have only 6K miles on them. That's the last of my 9 bolt stash. If any of you need them just pm me and I'll give you the details.
What would really be cool is if the owner of TA sent me a 12 bolt cover for getting this started. Considering he just made a good bit of coin over this whole thing. Not to mention all the sales from the aussies when they find out about this.
Oh...and guys if you get this cover and you still manage to grenade your 9bolt....please don't email me saying that I told you it would be indestructable if you bought one of these covers.
Enjoy your car candy!

I was expecting another couple of months. Looks like I'll need to scramble to get the funds together and get mine ordered. To get the $159 price all I have to do is tell them I'm on the list from TGO? Let me know when you get yours Ed, if I don't have mine by then I'd like to take a look at it.
Yep, I just asked Virginia if it was still going for the $159 price. She said, yes. I think right now we're about the only ones ordering it, because it's still listed as a coming soon and TBA price on the website.
Who ever gets there first needs to post the pictures. I imagine some of us are going to be waiting a little bit.
I just said I would like to order one and asked what the price was going to be the second time I called. I think it will be 159 for a bit until they actually list it as an available part.
Just ordered mine too I'm pretty excited that they're coming through for us on this!!! I'm also glad people have stuck it out and that the large demand for these covers is being proven to TA
When I ordered mine, I asked how much the stud kit was, she said $20 and that the total would be $180, so ~ $159 for the girdle. I mentioned nothing about TGO, got the price anyway.
Mike, I'll let you know when I get it.

Yep, I forgot to mention pricing. I didn't say anything about TGO either, but that's what she said to me too. $159 for the cover and like $20ish for the stud kit.
Odd question but I thought someone of you would be able to help. As many of you are planning to change the rearend covers (those looks good by the way), I'm after the id tags that originally came on the 9 bolt rears and are held in place by the rear end cover bolts. On mine there's two of them but they are badly rusted so I can't read them. I own a 89 TTA and like to get hold of the id tags (nice once) to get mine back to original stock look.
Anyone willing to sell yours let me know, either PM or send e-mail to jan_l@rsson.com
Ordered mine yesterday. Had to call like 20 times to get through. She said it should be ready to ship in 2-3 weeks. Didn't ask about price, just said send one with a stud kit.

Appreciate any help on this.
Mine were really rusted too, i just got a wire wheel on a bench grinder and they came up like new, can read them perfect
can't wait to order my cover just have to get the trans done in my monte
Ordered mine today and was told 2-3 weeks.
Couple questions for you guys;
Stud kit ? What is the diff between the factory bolts and the stud kit ? With all things being the same as in size , are the studs made out of harder material. Just cannot see why you would need the stud kit with the girdle pushing against the bearing caps how in the heck could the caps ever move ? Maybe if they had a stud kit with a bearing cap of harder material to go along with it I would buy into this ? Your thoughts ?
Also I don't know if anyone has looked closely at their rearend but on my '89 either the sway bar or the track bar, I believe it is the sway bar is VERY, VERY close and very snug to the lower part of the factory cover ? With the added thickness of the girdle the sway bar may very well hit ? This was mentioned early on and TA had no idea what I was talking about ? What do you think ?
When I sent them the donar rear I included the dimentions for the proximity of the sway bar as well as emailing them some very good pics. Suppose it hits though? wouldn't that be a bite? LOL !

Thanks Mike , you and Drain are very thorough. I am sure they are aware of this thanks to you and am sure it is not the first time the sway was in close proximity of the cover. If TA did their
homework as you did we are home free if not we are guinea pigs...lol.
Any thoughts on the stud kits question in my previos post ? Thanks
