I am quite fond of Mallory Unilite ignitions with vacuum advance. Pretty reasonably priced and totally electronic. Need a matching coil and a bit of wiring and new plug wires. Use plug wires with a spiral core and very low resistance per foot. MSD makes the best ones, think they are called Super Conductor, or something like that. Top quality equipment.

The low profile MSD {part# MSD-84697} clears tunnel rams and blowers. It uses the HEI style plug wires and external coil.It also has a slip collar that is adjustable for use with standard, tall,or decked blocks. For right at $145.00 bucks its a nice peice.

A crank trigger ignition is the most accurate means of ignition that you could have.It uses four magnets embeded in a aluminum wheel that bolts to your balancer. As the crank rotates the magnets pass a non magnetic pickup and triggers the ignition. It uses the crank to activate ignition rather than the cam,it is far more accurate becuase false triggering of the ignition is eliminated.

A good video about how to fabricate a low profile distributor cap...
