Car Chemistry Exhaust Inserts
Product: Car Chemistry 2.5" 3 disk exhaust inserts
My Purpose: I have NO ground clearence and no money for custom exhaust. I have summit shorties and want to run dual exhaust, but cant afford it right now. so I looked into these inserts from car chemistry.
My setup: Summit shorty headers 1 1/2 primary tubes to a 2.5" collector
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
using the provided 2.5" to 2.5" reducers.
Part 1
I bought these from summit for $55 each. I bought two. They are extremley light weight, about 1/2lbs each. At first glance, the discs have holes drilled into them, but they are not lined up the same on each insert, they are different, probably random. I dont know if this makes a difference, but i'd imagine it would since your dealing with sound vibrations, but I could be wrong.
Each package comes with 1 insert and 1 cap and 1 noise reducer. The cap is for max sound reduction and the reducer if for extra reduction. It comes with instructions as well, which are ok, but could be a bit better and more informative.
The site says that the inserts might require some slight modding of the tube that it will be put into. Well, after taking off my headers, I find out that the inserts are 2.5" diameter which means my collectors and reducers have to be 2.5" INNER diameter, which at current they are 2.5" OUTSIDE diameter, so they wouldnt fit.
So far, not so good. I just found out that on my driver side reducer, I have some banged up areas which means speed bumps/big dips are a problem...
Stay tuned for part 2. Tommorow I go to the muffler shop to get my reducers enlarged to fit the inserts, and have the inserts welded in.
