where is the group buy area? I cant find...Guess I'm blind...
Different note I have some very small ripples in my lower door frame from having a little too much fun and I guessed I tweated it a bit.. Seems like there might be a little sag in the middle of my car...Notice from door closing needs to come up like i have a sagging belly... I was told to use jack stands on a level shop floor to ensure all is level and allow the wheels to drop to help and then go from there and ensure that is level with the floor and then weld... Just want to make sure I'm not crazy...lol I to am getting the UMI's thought about Kenny browns but have not heard alot about them and heard nothing but good things about umi... Sorry so long winded any help will be great!!!!
Free shipping usually from herronperformance.com on UMI parts. He does not stock the subframe connectors for the late 80's models, but if you email him the part number (2400) from UMI and what color you want, he'll order them for you. Mine were $195 w/free shipping to Ohio.
Yep, free shipping from Herron Performance on UMI stuff and a few other brands, I believe. He places the order to UMI and then they're drop shipped out. Hard to beat deal, I think, considering how much shipping is.
Whoever asked about how the LCA's mount to the SFC's, you don't have to weld or modify anything. They give you new longer hardware.
I'm gonna visit this interesting boards later. I am still quite fascinated with Aftermarket Product Review board. I am still looking for more stuffs to buy and post it later at the Purchases board
just installed these on my car yesterday. deffinately made a big difference. they are hitting my 3 inch exhaust i will fix that next week. deffinately a great product
Hey long time no hear from. I am glad that you finally got the project rolling. The 3in exhaust shouldn't be a problem. I am running all of the tubular products currently being manufactured for the 3rd Gen's including lakewood traction bars and have no problem with clearances. You can find pics of mine on webshots. My username is IROCZX2 and go to the 2nd album and see the complete setup. I am looking to finish up on the red one in the spring with the same type of setup and should work well with the 6pt rollcage that is already installed. Be safe and enjoy your weekend.
If they really did make a SBC (small-block chevy) engine from 4x4 square pieces they should post it under the fabrication thread.

+1
yes, you can make your own SFC, but it requires tools and time. Unless you have a custom application, its still cheaper toi just buy them than take the time and try to make your own.
okay my bad i meant SFC. you know what i meant. dont be a damn retard about it cause i had a typo.
and im just lookin for the cheapest DIY things. i have all the metal ill ever need for free so metal isnt an problem, itll prolly take time to do it right, but ill take an extra afternoon of work over 200 dollars anyday.

I forgot to say tyhey are hitting my exhaust because its kind of an hacked up 3 inch. i pulled it down and put a little dent in it and now its okay. the only problem is that they didnt fit the frames real tight in the front so their was a lot to fill in. but nevertheless id deffinately purchase them again, and other umi profucts. next might be the torque arm relocation crossmember.
Waiting for mine to come in the mail as we speak. I work at a shop with a 4 post lift, like UMI's in the install pics. Should I weld them on the way they did, or 4 drive on ramps? Does it really matter?
Yep drive the car up on ramps (I copied Stephens model), Then jack the rear up and place two jackstands on the rear, then weld in SFC's.
The weld on LCARBS: unbolt axle LCA, make sure the axle DOES NOT MOVE! Then put a bolt through the LCARB and original mounting hole. Line up lca and bolt it on the lowest setting of the LCARB, Tack weld LCARB in place, make sure its all good, and lay a nice bead.
They stick out just below the pinch welds maybe about a 1/4" or less. You might be able to see them if you dont have ground effects. I have the rear package and tourque arm. I did not get the relocation brackets. They make a good product. Im just waiting for them to make a sturt tower brace for third gens.
They now make a strut tower brace

They are about the same but the UMI are "beefier". I have them in my 89 along with the adjustable panhard rod (on car) and wonderbar. GREAT PIECES...all I can say.
