it seems like a bunch of us have tryed it and im thinking about giving them a try. aluminum heads for about $800 a set, cheapest i really found. Just wondering how people are liking them if they had any problems or any thing like that.

Re: Patriot performance heads

I'd sooner buy summit or jegs alum set, I'd prob consider patriot if they was like new/used, and dirt cheap. $200 more buys a bit more peace of mind. Rumor is better companys make the summit/jegs brand stuff, they just use cheaper stuff too assemble them. But it's the head casting itself I have herd bad things bout all the cheap china heads.

Re: Patriot performance heads

I was going to use those Patriot Freedom series heads (that flowed something like 305 cfm) and cost like $1,100 on my 400 small block... machine shop yelled at me and told me those heads are garbage! They apparently have had a lot of bad experiences with them.

Re: Patriot performance heads

I haven't seen a lot of people with good things to say about them. I've seen some people compare their castings to the Pro Comp heads (which have an even worse reputation) and say that they appear to be identical.

While I have no direct experience with them, their reputation seems to be poor enough that if it was me, I'd spend a little more for Trick Flow heads. When you consider the total cost of an engine upgrade, using crap heads to save a couple hundred bucks just doesn't seem like a good idea.

Re: Patriot performance heads

The Pro Comp and patriot castings are identical. They made a casting revision recently and the new ones appear to be much better. The old casting was notoriously weak in the center head bolt boss and would crack into the water jacket when torqued down.
The Patriot heads do appear to have high quality valves and springs and are assembled in Alabama and claim to use 21-4n stainless high quality valves.

Re: Patriot performance heads

A lot of guys down here in alabama use the patriot performance heads. and most of the R&D seems to be done with local racers. I guess its easier to take the head back and get a new one the same day if there is a problem but honestly i haven't seen many complain about them. they are in my oppinion. good cheap heads. but then again we may have newer revisions that the ones you guys are talking about.
