Auto Center Inc are they any good
I always see their ads hot rod magazine.www.goautocenter.com I was wondering if anyone has done any business with these guys and if so are they a good company? Do they sell junk or are they legit? Anyway the reason I ask is because I'm on the hunt for a new 350 so if anyone has any suggestions I'd be happy to hear them. Also the have a 350/330 with vortec heads. Will this engine work on my 87 GTA. I was told unless it has hydraulic roller rockers, the computer will go nuts. Please give your input.
Thanks

I bought the 300HP TPI crate motor from them.Al new GM,w/warantee.I was going to get the 330HP,but the Vortec heads are tough to make it a smog legal conversion in CA.
I assume your GTA is TPI?If so, the Vortec heads will require the new Vortec TPI base.
Pretty expensive stuff!

$399 for that, also, since vortec heads have no exhaust crossover for EGR,you'll need to run a tube from the exhaust manifold or header on one side to make that work.
If smog legality is not a problem where you live,it'll be a good swap.Otherwise I'd stick with the earlier non-Vortec heads.
Also, the Vortec 330HP motor comes with a hydraulic flat-tappet cam, where the 300HPTPI motor comes with the hydraulic roller.
You can order the Vortec motor with the hydraulic roller, for another $300.
You'll be better off with the roller cam,but either will work.
Hope this helps.
