16" wheel offset problem...
I just traded my old hydraulic setup for a set of 16x8" Centerline Trigon wheels from an S10 truck. The rears fit great. But the fronts rub on the tie rod and the metal spindle edge near the top (well not anymore ). I bought a 5/16" wheel spacer, and it still rubs the tie rod end.
I put a second 5/16" spacer on it, and it still hits the wheel weight on the tie rod end, but I can get them rebalanced with sticky weights. Problem is the lugnuts aren't long enough.
I have a few options.
1. Use only one 5/16 spacer and grind the tie rod end slightly to clear the wheel without weights.
2. Use two 5/16 spacers, longer lugnuts and no wheel weights.
I'd prefer option 1 because I don't like too much spacing. But is it safe to flatten the end of the tie rod with a grinder just enough to clear the wheel?
Is it possible to relocate the tie rod end to the upper side of the spindle?
Thanks...

The best would be a 3/4 or 1 inch adapter--much better than a spacer. If not that, run one spacer and grind on the tie-rod--worst case is that you could grind too much and have to replace it(just a few bucks). You will need longer studs to run 2 spacers--plus it wouldn't be as safe.
