first off, holy cow that must suck

you have insurance? usually there is no deductable and your insurance won't go up after vandalism...

i would recommend you get a locking gas cap after you fix everything....

and by the way, i would call the cops unless you've already not done so? the lighter may have prints on it?

The cops, arson guy, firefighters.......The whole nine yards...

Insurance won't cover, locking gas cap is already in the works.....

I saved the gas cap & lighter is a plastic bag for the detectives...

OMG, that is so sorry. what mother..... would do that to someones car? If anyone has beef with you they should go to you not your car. that is just low down chicken....

well don't move the car or the lighter till you file a police report. then you need to find out how bad the damage is. does the car start? did all the gas in the tank burn? or was it just the rag (?) that burned and it never hit the tank? that whole rear Q/panel is gone and it has to go. Don't think you can drive a car with an improper gas cap. looks like you have to cut that whole rear off. change out the gas tank, if it is damaged.
and visit the local gun shop.......

but really I don't know the whos and wheres of what person ould do this. but if they did it once they can do it again. get a video camera and start to film the car everynight from your house window or something. get a spot light on the car from inside the window (so they cant knock it out)

that sucks man

biker

BTW after you get a locking gas cap, they will not stop there, next is your windows, hood, paint, whatever.

Well the car, only has about 2-3 gallons of gas in it....

The Arson official said that the fire never went inside of the gas tank....

The cloth was in there so tight that it didn't allow the fire to continue inside the gas tank, so it must have been soaked in gas, and it just burned...

I haven't tried starting it, kinda worried, i rather empty out all the gas, then fill it back up, and try it then.....

I'm gonna sand it down later today and that way i can removed that nasty black stuff and see if the actual panel is wrecked, because after looking at it, it looks to be fairly straight and the shot from iside doesn't show any waves....

I already have a gun

do you have an alarm?

definitely should get an alarm with a pager with a motion sensor. my boss has one that if you make any sound near the car or walk close to it it starts beeping at you....

why wouldn't insurance cover that? don't you have fire and theft?

It went off at like 3:00 a.m.

People heard it, but it's Florida and no one cares, so they just went back to sleep......

They told me about it this morning....that helps....

I plan to pursue it farther with the ins company, but the sad truth is that this car is a daily driver, so i need to get it fixed ASAP......I'm actually supposed to be at work right now, but as you can see i don't have transportation, so i'm at home.....

I'm gonna take about 20 more pictures before i start cleaning it, so that way later down the road, the detective can see it........

remember before someone starts a anti-gun thread here. I know this is off topic from third gens and all but it is advice when It comes to protecting yourself and your property.
if you do have a gun, and your state has a conceal carry law, get the permit. carry the gun. if buy chance you do run into these yahoos again, you can't just pull that thing out and start basting away. if you have 2-3 of these guys messing with your car and they advance on you to try to hurt you. you have a better chance under the "self-defense" plea. if you come upon these guys messing with the car, point the gun, tell them to stop and call 911. if they run, then all you have is a discription, and hopefully you know these people. but if you don't have a carry permit and this happens ouside your property then the law will also not look kindly on you carrying a gun.

good luck, sorry this got off topic, but the whole gun thing got mentioned, and hopefully this will put people's minds on track before we get a ton of posts of "hunting these people down and blowing them away"

biker

BTW mods if you want this gone just say so

Thats crazy man. Ive never seen anything like that! Praise the Lord they didn't actually blow up the car. It could be a lot worse man. The paint looks toast but the metal underneath proably didn't get hot enough to warp to severly. Looks fixable.

Good luck with all the insurance stuff. Oh, and hearing people say you should get a gun and shoot the guys in the face for doing this is stupid. Yeah go to jail or even fry for defending your car's honor

I would say your tank is probably fine inside. if there is any ash in it, I would suppose it would have been hot enough to blow the tank. You should be fine to drive it. Just get a new cap.

later,
bill

man if some "broke into" my gated property @ 3am and saw what was going down, they the perpetrators, will be going down.
sorry that's just ****ed up. people have been shot and killed for trying to steal people rides, rims, systems, etc, around sa. no charges of course. theft and vandilism are all too common a problem in sa.

looks fairly repairable. just got a get a new "inner fender skirt"? (the plastic piece), the gas filler plastic, cap, some light sanding and re-painting. though none of this shopuld be necessary and i hope u know or have an idea of who did it. make those *******z pay for the damages. glad too see that the car didn't catch fire and blow up. good luck man. i know how u feel.

Wow, when I read the thread I certainately was not expecting to see that. You should be glad that the arsonist was unsuccessful in torching your entire car.

I don't understand why anyone would single out your car, of all cars. I suspect it wasn't random either. I bet its someone who has seen your car before or something.

I hope you are able to get it sorted out.

If they caught the person who did it, my first reaction would be to beat the S#$% out of him and then torch his crap, but I have this anti-going to jail thing.

So instead I would try to sue him and squeeze him for every cent to pay for the damages and then some.

It makes me so mad when I hear about stuff like this... so far:

One of our club members with a really super nice custom 3rd gen had his t-tops smashed for no apparent reason.

My friends CD player n check book got stolen outta his firebird, they even took the CD face plate trim thingy! What the hell did they need that for?

My car got radar detector and cell phone stolen - they ripped the radar detector cord instead of unplugging it?? Go figure.

My brother lives in England where his wife's car had the window smashed in, along with every other car window in their street!

My brothers friend's neighbor has had a brick thrown through his car's window twice in 3 months.

Owner of CamaroSource.ca got his car egged the other day!

Some idiot hit my car in a parking lot while I was in the store so now not only do I need to replace the pass. fender and front bumper cover, but i also hafta replace the one good fender I had!

I'm sure there's more but those are the things I remember. But I'm not a fan of Miami anyway so this is just one more reason to dislike that area.

Sorry to hear about that man.

Do you any enemies that would be this crazy about doing something to you?

If you do, just be grateful it was only you're car they were after.

At the end of the day, you're car may be a little crispy, but you are still alive.

Damage looks repairable
Keep us posted.

Wow dude that sucks. I'm glad it wasn't alot worse, but still.
I can't believe your insurance won't cover that, mine covered me when my radio was stolen out of the car, you'd think they'd cover you for something ALOT more serious like this.

Its sad though.. i mean even if you really really hate someone.. you just dont go trying to destroy someone pride and joy just because your mad.. whoever did that are lame excuses of poeple... but hey its a done deal not much you can do.. its in the past just suck it up fix your car and show those sorry bast@rds your better and you get right back your your feet again... well good luck, hope you figure it all out!

Man that sucks big time, who did you **** off? Thats the first place you should look. That is some serious criminal activity, no tlike throwing a brick threw a window, this thing coudl have blown up, killed somebody, property damage to any other cars or buildings around it. The person who did this is really stupid or really wacked and very dangerous. I had my CD player stolen last week and felt violated over that, I can just imagine what a bummer this is for you. I have a locking gas cap, alarm (bought after theft), and steering wheel lock, I am so paranoid of people messing with my ride now. Best of luck to you.

I'm deeply sorry for you, flynlow. I could feel my face go a little pale when I saw the pics. I can't believe your head didn't explode when you saw what had happened - i think mine would have. I don't really have anything to say other than what's already been said. Good luck, my friend. Here's to better days.

I'm definitely getting a locking gas cap tomorrow.

OOOOOOOMMMMMMMGGGGGG, i'm glad the tank didnt blow.
Sometimes I wonder about humanity and how someone could go out and get kicks off of doing something like that. I'm betting that it was someone in your neighbor hood. 90% likely that it was a underage perp.
I've always had a locking gas cap on mine, its saved me from being sugared once so far. I strongly suggest in getting a car alarm that pages you or having one of those home security cameras installed and looking at your car.

After you get it fixed, park it out in front of your house in the wide open. Then, hide behind a nearby bush or something and wait for the little bitches to come back. Nothin like takin a baseball bat to some punk-*** kid's back...

Damn......... thats sucks bro. Who did you **** off that bad for someone to do that? Or do you know any jealous punks in your area?

I'd get all Ike Turner on that *** and then pump a few rounds of lead in 'em.

On the brite side, the car didn't blow up. It wouldn't take much to get her back into shape.

Good luck to ya

witout comp coverage

dont waste your time, insurance wont cover it.

I know it looks bad, but scuff the damage area, prime it, get a cover for the gas cap and tire and your back in business.

Someone has a hard on for you, I'd start thinking about who or what pissed someone off to do this.
