You are right, i don't give much compliments.It is in my nature to be honest and to say what i think. And there are simply very few cars on this board which look really good to me. Heck, sometimes i am in doubt if i even like my own car.
When people post pics of bone stock cars with peeling paint and ugly rims, there is at least one member who replies like: looks great, nice and so on. I prefer an honest "looks like crap".
And when it comes to the car on this thread i think:
- not low enough
- tires too wide for the rims
- softlip would be better (the classic hump rim is ok for tt2's)

nope everything fits perfect , and as for getting a 40 series out back , i wanted to , but they are 26.9 or s0omething inches tall and i dont know if they would clear, i did want the 40 in the back but i didnt wanna get them and then have them rub. As for the fit everything fits perfectly . Gm shoulda put 275 on the back of a thirgen.

yes, i think a 245 is too wide for the 8 inch wheel. I run a 225 on them in front and that is just right. If i had to buy new rims i would buy 9 inch wheels for the front wrapped in 235 or 245's.

a 225 as Graboid suggested looks a bit different than a 245. It's just his opinion. I know exactly what he means, but I think that with a smaller rim (like 16's) that overlap from a 245 actually looks better. More "musclecar" ish if you ask me. On an 18, I don't like the tire to have any of that overlap look.

Abubaca, i agree. On the 16 inch wheel it doesn't look as bad as on 18's. But i alway refer to 18's when i post my complaints about too wide tires. I also have the feeling that it actually IS better not only LOOKS better with the 225.
Example: PORSCHE 911 Turbo. More sportscar than anything GM has ever made. Wheel/tire combo 8 and 11x18 wrapped in 225/40 and 295/40. Lambo Gallardo 8.5 and 11x19 wrapped in 235/35 and 295/30. Enough said

well i might as well ad my 2 cents and tire experiance.
if it fits and does not over stretch the bead causing the outside edges to wear since the middle is pulled downwards, or is so far to wide that the center pumps out and wears the center of the tire to early then it works. it does also matter if the side wall does not rub anything. other than that there is no right or wrong size. i myself prefer a little side wall past the rims to help protect the rims. a tire hitting the curb is better than the rims hitting first. sidewalls are made to take a little of this abuse.
and as far as the factory choices.....who cares we have all changed the factory set up of our cars.

I know i cant't compare a thirdgen to a Porsche or Lambo, because we all know that are different worlds. I had my eye on the PROPORTION (Is this the correct term, kandied?) between the width of the wheel and tire.

I think a lot of it has to do with what kind of performance. A little overlap from a wider tire means the the actual sidewall is longer, it's just bowed out a bit more. Logic would suggest that the more sidewall you have, the better the ride, BUT you wouldn't have as much control "perfomance" wise when handling a curve, due to more deflection. (Is that the right term? I honeslty am not sure.)
....at the same time, that extra sidewall movement helps with straight line traction. That's why drag cars don't run low profile tires, AND why we drop our tire pressure when dragging, or heck, even in the snow! More mush, less spinning.

no graboid my comments had nothing to do with what you had said to me....your preference is just that and we could get into an entirely different ball game just talking back and fourth on what we don't like about each others cars leave it be as there is no reason to act like an ***.
in this instance tire make also has a huge influence as well...you could have a 225 with tire guard and a brand say bfg that will have a much different look then the identical size in a kuhmo with no tire guard. same for michelin, toyo and the rest. one could go round and round trying different makes but it would be silly.
in graboid's particular instance it's a prefered look to stretch the tire...well it isn't the case here, who is to say what's right or wrong? do what you want to your own damn car and if you don't have something nice to say at least go about it in a way that's more educational rather then pointing fingers. i know personally i wouldn't stretch a tire like that because of my roads here in michigan would easily bend a rim. the only way to counteract such a situation would be to enlarge the profile and then your changing the look again as well as putting improper stress on areas that aren't needed.

Lookn good! Glad you like the fit. Really sets your car off man, good job!! As for the whole tire size thing, there really is no wrong answer. Tires have a range of widths that they will fit on, if you check out the tire spec PDF sheets you'll see that most widths of tires have a range of wheel widths that are acceptable. In this case the method we are using to determine the tire size is based off the OEM tire sizes. This was the best way to determine what tires would fit with no rubbing or fitment issues (since not a lot of people are running 18's on these cars). Everything beyond that (sized for different reasons) is personal preferance... Off topic but I actually like the look of stretched tires (and I do run them on my drift car). Not good for daily driving, but I definately think its cool hehehe.

mine are bare. I got the mothers billet polish and it didnt seem to polish them up any , and i also got 100% carnuba and it made it look hazy with it on . How do you get yours so shiney , do u use power tools to help out or just elbow grease. sweetride45 those are the 13 inch baers . I think i need 14inch brakes if they are 13's. they look too small.

there are different types of polish finishes you can order as well. an example on my wheels i ordered the show finish which is as close to chrome as metal can get. they can get hazy like above though if i let them go for a short while...other then that they look like a mirror.
if they were hazy when you bought them they aren't going to get much better, did you have a clear put on them possibly?
i know boyd and their polish isn't as mirror as some can get but when you order the polished finish they shouldn't look hazy..

i didnt have a choice as to which finish i got , they only have polished. Maybe its the pic that makes them look hazy. They have no finish on them . Just bare aluminum . They look good. They may not be as shiney as your but they look good.
