i've wetsand-polished a few sets now. i'm actually JUST now finishing up another set. i wetsand with 220 to knock any big imperfections down as well as take the DOT and R&L lettering off, then i hit them with 400, 600, 800, 1000 grit wetsand, followed by a rubbing and polishing compounds, then finally i mask them off and repaint the lines a high gloss black as well as the black plastic pieces. they turn out GREAT everytime i do a set.

yep, i just taped them off and sprayed the lines back on. you can do other colors, i've seen some folks do it to coordinate with their car, but it looks kinda funky to me.

i just finished a set of base model tails and they turned out really good. i've got them on my car at the moment.

Nightshade them black...or just part of it. Paint the amber red to match the other sections, do a search there are plenty of tail light mod threads going.

I smoked just the amber part out. I really like the look of it, and when the blinker is on, it still turns yellow...ish

The pattern is from the grids. They are more like small rectangles than squares. Each lense took some 40 hours to mask, cut, etc.Yes it looks like a pain, but it was a labor of love i guess.

I painted the amber part with Testors Candy Apple Red, then I swapped the turn signal socket from a 2 wire socket to a 3 wire socket, and spliced the extra wire to the Brown wires for the License Plate lights, so now the turn signals light up with the tail lights, and still flash when signaling.

Me and a friend part out 3rdgens, so I had some from a Firebird tail light harness. But just about any GM 3 wire socket will work, as long as it's the flat kind that twists into the hole.

Thats a great idea!!!

I was thinking about modifying the whole thing that it works like on the birds: turn signal, brake and taillights, but this mod would be much easier and look kinda similar!

Has anyone done anything with the firebird lights? I'm having a hard time deciding on what to do.
