Cross-fire hood vs iroc hood
Hi
Does anyone know the difference in clearance underneath the two hoods?
I'm running a dual snorkel with a weiand egr intake, and clearance is tight with the iroc hood. Would the crossfire hood (fibreglass one) have lower clearance or same?
Thanks

Car: 82 Camaro Z28, 88 IROC-Z
Engine: 5.0L TBI., 5.7TPI
Transmission: Auto TH200C, 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.23 posi, ones that rotate!
I have an 82 Z28 with the cross fire engine. The hood, with air inuction, sat right in top of the air cleaner. In fact there is a rubber seal around the indcution scoops that sealed the hood to the air cleaner so the air flow would be directly into the air cleaner when the induction flaps were opened.
Search in the BODY forum under my user name and you will find some photos in the Z28 Fiberglass Hood thread. You can see the hood, opened, with the air cleaners visible. You can also see the seal on the underside of the hood. I cannot tell you how high the top of the air cleaner is from a point on the car, but I probably could measure if you want.

Car: too many ...
I have not measured anything but when I put a Strut Tower Bar for a TPI setup on my 89 IROC-Z, the Crossfire Hood would not clear it while the stock IROC-Z hood would. Its possible adjustments needed to be made, but when I swap hoods I spray a little bit of paint over the bolt holes so the replacement hood is always aligned the same. Nowadays that Crossfire hood is on my 84 with a Carb'd setup, and it barely fits but this is with a CAI carb hat and some "custom" haha spacer bolts under the hood hinges (ghetto cowl setup). Swapping a hood isn't that hard if you got someone to help you hold the other side, maybe try mock fit the Crossfire hood before buying?
