Re: How "anal" should I be over the new paint job?
well i am anal but not super anal. the first chip happened 1/2 hour after picking it up from paint. the wife put a chip in the fron gfx. (but i couldn't get super mad, she was turning wrenches on it for the first time.....soo sooo HOT.) i do not let anyone near it. the kids only get in with my help. i have pretty much an all brand new interior. aside from the carpet i know it will clean up just fine. i hope to get 10 yrs out of the main carpet.
i didn't spend big bucks because i did want to enjoy the car, not freak out everywhere i go. and no matter what, anything can be fixed. not worth stressing over. if you have never had a new paint job, then you would never understand the stress.

Covered in the winter, in the garage.
Not driven in the rain.
Never taken to the mall...ever.
Never parked in a parking garage.
Never taken to the supermarket.
I'm the only one that washes it - no drive through car washes, no automated car washes - hand wash, hand wax only.
Separate sponges for paint and wheels.
I'm the only one that drives it, minus NYSI.
If I plan to drink, even one - car stays home.
If for some odd reason i leave it unattended ... it's in the spot in the lot, alone, away from other cars. Not to mention , the viper alarm with transponder and motion sensors is activated.
i heard keeping a cover on it to much is bad.. i always wanted to cover her in the garage.

You must be dating the wrong girls. I'm 25 and have owned 4 different f-bodies all but 1 was a third gen (the fourth a 99 z28) while with my wife the last 7 years and everytime we go out in my z or she sees me driving it I'm sure to get lucky that night. So you saying girls don't appreciate these cars your wrong
Re: How "anal" should I be over the new paint job?
It's only covered in the winter. I think maybe a crappy cover, or consistent on/off ..especially on a dirty car could scratch the paint. I don't feel like the cover has done any damage...acid rain however is a different story.

Haha, I still don't know why she puts up with my craziness... She always asks to drive it, and all I can picture is her braking late and ending up in the side of my parents house... So she doesn't drive it...
Re: How "anal" should I be over the new paint job?
Let's see......Yeah, I definitively put the first scratch on her, and when I did, it needed a new front end and hood (buddy's 65' F100 failed to mention his tail lights were not working that night). But all's good now. Um, I ALWAYS keep a microfiber rag in the car. I'm a window nazi, the windows have got to be clean even if the rest of the car isn't squeaky too. Depending on the situation, and how far out I park, I WILL take up two spaces so no one can park as close. She sleeps in the garage and doesn't see rain unless she has too or when she has long already been dirty anyways. At the end of the day, and beginning, she is still a car and is meant to me DRIVEN.
