Car looks great Rocky, I've been thinking about doing my 91 black with the glossifier and my 88 gunmetal with the glossifier as well.

Re: Dipped camaro

hi!

i am just ordering the paint for my firebird..
i was comparing the kits from dipyourcar.com and other sites in my region (europe)
I was wondering that I cant see a thinner in the kit you bought.. or do they just dont mention the thinner in the description?

did there a thinner come with your kit ?
how was the mixing ratio ? 1:1 (1 gal plasti dip : 1 gal thinner) ?

have u seen the guy on youtube that is mixing pearl effect color into the dip ?
you get a matte / flat tone with pearl .. awesome !

I´ll try to replicate the "arctic white" with pearl shine

white + little blue + pearlizer

Not really sureh ow that could possibly work, but I've always thought it would be awesome to have a "Frosted" look to your car... Pearl + matte seems close to that. Not sure I'd ever actually do it, but it just seems like it would look neat.

Re: Dipped camaro

The frosted look can be made by a clear plasti dip of course using your original color. As for the thinner the gallons come pre-thinned all I had to do was was pour it in the sprayer and paint. That's the best part. I didn't want to sit there and figure it out!! And who's wheels if mine they are just Chrime IROC replicas 18s that plastidip the in lays!!

I second IW-33, where did you get and what kind of wheels are they? Plasti-dip looks good BTW. Not my style, but it looks good.

Re: Dipped camaro

Plati Dips is cool stuff. I have done some badges with it and it holds up well. I did a half motorcycle helmet with it and the texture was way differant than the badges-like softer. I would love to Dip my RS in the spring.

Re: Dipped camaro

Not feeling it though I'm not a fan of flat color cars. I can't help but think this trend was "reborn" from the fast and furious days because of the cheap half-**** hackjobs kids did with their "tuner" cars. Buying a new hood without the funds to paint match? = rattle can. Same with wings, gfx etc. It was slowly accepted and thought of as cool because they all did it and it identified a "tuner". Just an excuse to avoid shelling out the money for a proper paint job imo. Just my theory of course.

Sorry for the rant, I just think it looks terrible and can't wait until this cheap solution fad is over in the car hobby.

Re: Dipped camaro

It's not for everyone , But i've seen some pretty bad azz rides Plasti-dipped. And though it is a forgiving matierial , If you rush and do a half-azzed job , That will be the result . If you take your time and do it right , The results can be wicked nice ! And that's my

And funny, It's not just broke kids doing it . :-)

Re: Dipped camaro

Love all those cars, but I really love that HHR. Looks military with the olive drab, matte black, and that awesome windshield thing. (What are they called?)

My only nitpicks on those cars is the wing on the 5th gen and the weird wheels on the Rolls-Royce.

I think it looks BAD A**!! But then again I always been a fan of the flat black color. You ask 50 people- 25 will like it / 25 will hate it! I like how it flows with the Iroc rims. Kind of makes want to get the black machined Irocs now!

Took a lot more masking work than I expected, but it looks great. All you guys afraid to put actual paint down on your bumper covers, give it a shot!

Re: Dipped camaro

I'm loving this look... I've always like the matte black look, and my car is a VERY faded red, with spots of primer and such. - I was thinking of going glossy black paint, but this matte black plasti-dipped actually looks pretty cool.

I'm actually now toying around the idea of the Matte Red with Matte Black accents just for something different. I wonder what that would look like lol

Re: Dipped camaro

Looks great! My paint although fairly new, is looking tired in places. I saw a few of the tuner cars at a show done this way, and I was absolutely blown away, how clean and professional it can look. One thing to see a picture, but in person it looks just as good.

I was thinking of doing my car in a custom mixed bronze color for next season, as I have the whole thing apart right now. It is getting a TKO-600, new motor, and 12 bolt rear end. I am ordering some ZR1 replica wheels and think this would be interesting to try.

They say it last 2-3 yrs if done correctly. If not you can just add about two coats for 60 bucks.

At least it's removable without too much trouble, I know Rocky and his car. I would be shocked if he kept it that way long term. I bet this is just something he experimented with after he played bumper cars a couple months ago.

Intresting is a 290-300 hp 4 banger , That gets 33+ mpg on the hw, And can carry a bunch of stuff. Some pics of my 1st one 2008 HHR SS 5spd , Traded it with 99600 miles on it , for a 2010 SS automatic, with 15,000 miles. But the 3rd gen RS has taken the place of the SS in my garage.

I like the panel! I'd like to see an SS swap into one of those panel wagons lol.

Explain haps on how i defiled the vert as it should be RIP you say? Im not looking to pick on you but i dont mind critizism but at least make it constructive. should i make it look like your vert?

Mark you are right this is just something to play with as you guys know i really didnt like the silver to flashy as you could not see this in the pics it had flakes in the paint that the previous owner did. I do however do want a real paint job as i want it black yes i know so many black camaros but a black vert has been my favorite car of all times. so yes this is something im playing with.

Re: Dipped camaro

well I like the idea... and I like that you guys shared your results.

Its your car... light it on fire and **** it out if you want.

I contemplated removing the angled nose and chopping up the front fenders on mine... like a 30s shot rod with big fat rear tires just to be different.

Re: Dipped camaro

you put the stripe over the dip!?!?! I didn't think something like that would stick lol. Get some cleaner shots with the top down man. That dipped hood looks NASTY!!! They just came out with a Charcoal Gray yesterday on dipyourcar.com. It's only in cans right now but I believe that color would look badass on my 88 lol
