November 2015 COTM **WINNER**
Congratulations to EV305tpi, for being voted by the Third Gen Community as November 2015's Car of the Month.
There is nothing I can say about EV305tpi's '92 Z28 Z03/1LE that the photos don't clearly illustrate, so I will just state the obvious: This car is as clean as they come.
This win is especially prestigious due to the sheer amount of very elite competition this month.
I have been into thirdgens since I was 6, my Dad bought an '85 TA 5.0HO 5-speed, a gorgeous car that got me hooked. A few years later in 1991, he bought a white 89 Formula 350. I have never forgotten how fast that car felt to me as a kid, I still remember the new car smell of the interior and us burning out in it having fun When I was 15, I bought my first, a silver IROC that I did a complete nut-and-bolt restoration on it that took years to complete. It won best of show with it a few times when complete, but no matter how hard I tried there were always items here and there that broke on the car and it left me stranded. A close friend had a 1k mile 89 TTA at the time and introduced me to the low mile cars. I started a national search for the best low mile original thirdgen I could find. I had always wanted a 1LE car as a kid after reading about them in magazines and preferred to buy an original owner car if it was possible so I could get all of the history on it since day 1.
While looking through the low mile thread a few years back on this site, I came across a picture of a members car that I just couldn't stop looking at. Thirdgen Member Joel was the original owner of this car. Joel is an incredibly nice guy and preserved this car to the highest standard since he ordered it new!! It is the most documented car I have ever seen, he kept everything about the car in an organized binder form the order from through everything in ownership, it's unreal! Joel and I became good friends and when the time was right for him to sell it, I had to buy it!
I think Joel ordered this car just right. A rare combination of the 1LE with Z03 Heritage options, factory custom cloth interior, 350, and body side molding. I have been trying to track down how many Z03/1LEs are out there, compnine shows 32 in all Z03 color combos. There is one just like it in the GM Heritage collection.
It currently has 6k original miles, original gatorbacks, floor mats, etc. When I got it, I did the injectors, sway bar end links, fluids, and fuel pressure regulator.
In addition, I spent a tremendous amount of time carefully detailing up the motor compartment and the undercarriage so it'll be ready for judged shows. It's something that I love to do and i'm really happy with the way it came out. I still have more to do over the winter and I cant wait to do it!
And yes, it gets driven! I took it to a bunch of cruise nights this summer and recently on a 100 mile fall cruise that I hosted with 15 other collector cars. The car goes great and rides absolutely like new - rattle free and smooth, so much fun to drive!

While I prefer hot rods in general (and the 3rd gens make excellent hot rods) I have to say that this one of THE finest examples of an original that I've come across.
Well done keeping it alive EV305tpi.

Thank you so much everyone!!! I'm beyond excited right now!! It's a huge honor and so greatly appreciated!! I have been a member of this site for so many years, this site helped me late in high school and then college restore my 86 IROC and 84 anniversary TA which eventually got traded towards the cars that I have now. I couldn't have gained the knowledge without the help of the folks on this board and I have made many friends along the way, thanks again! Thanks also for the compliments on the car!! I have a little more detailing to go here and there but it's getting there! @Chris - I can do that! It does break traction easily and often

As the previous owner, I would like to thank Erik for his tireless work in detailing and restoring virtually every component of my old 1LE. Although I kept the car garaged, clean and with limited miles, it was never treated to the care and attention to detail provided by Erik. The pictures provided are just a small example of his work, and barely reflect the many hours devoted to making the car better than the one I originally drove home so many years ago. It’s difficult to watch a car leave after 23 years of ownership, but I feel very fortunate to have passed the car along to such a fine individual.

Thank you all so much!!! I still can't believe it, I am so excited!!! Thank you so much for the kind words Joel, it truly means so much to me!!!
I took it out for it's last ride of the season the other day, I already can't wait for the spring. There are a few items that I hope to finish detailing over the winter, looking forward to it
A few people were asking about the fall cruise that I host each year, here are a few more pics of it with my car in it:
