GTA parts on an 86 Firebird Coupe
Does anybody know how hard it is to take all the ground effects from an 88 GTA and put them on an 86 Firebird Coupe and taking the front and rear bumpers and putting them on my 86? The reason i am asking is because i can get all this from the junkyard out in dunmore, cause the one guy was able to pick up an 88 GTA which i am told had the 5.7 TPI but its just being parted out, its quite a nice interior. Red on grey seats. But anyways i would just like to know if anybody has had any experience doing this or what it might take to do.

i changed my '92 TA over to the 85-90 look, and also used a pair of regular firebird fenders and a door to replace rusted parts on my GTA a few years ago.
it's not overly difficult. it does require some drilling, and make sure you get the steel bumpers if yours have any differences (the '91-92s definitely do). my advice is to put the bumpers on first, and use them to line up where the holes need to go in the fenders and quarter panels.
doing the entire swap by myself took about 12 hours, and i wasn't in a big hurry.

(ps, the 12 hours didn't include the 3-4 hours it took to get the parts off the old car. so probably give yourself a whole weekend.
i'd also suggest using a different GFX color, since sometimes it's hard to match. the red back bumper is actually Krylon bright red, and 3 coats of duplicolor clearcoat. the GFX are 3 coats of duplicolor gold (light driftwood is the closest to factory gold "champagne gold", i believe) and 3 coats of clear. though if you don't have the gold wheels and tan car, do the GFX in silver.

Hey how long has it taken you to do it? And does it look really good once you have put on both bumpers, gfx, and the hood from a GTA?
