Alright... was removing the rear seats to reupholster them. The bottom part of the seats came out fine (where your butt goes). So, I fold down the back piece and start unbolting that. My hand is killing me, the bolts were on so tight! I got three off. One more to go and of course, it won't come off.

The area in question can be seen in this picture (sort of). Where the seat belt feeds through, that black plastic thing - that screws onto the back of the seat with two semi large torque bolts. I try to unscrew it, but it's not budging. I don't want to strip the bolt.

Has anyone else had similar problems with these being REALLY tight? Any idea what I can do? What if the bolt does get stripped? It's really not budging.

If it is that tight, I'd be more worried about twisting the head off the bolt. Have you tried WD-40 or other penetrating oil on the bolt?

heh i was doing that a few weeks ago, man they torque the HELL out of everything in any way possibly rubbing against the seat belts....those bolts were on there like someones life depended on it...I dont know if it was factory or previous owner but when i got them out there was some type of lock-tight stuff on it, major pita. I just took my time, took alot of breaks, and kinda gave my socket wrench alot of quick jerks until finally i could wrench them off, good luck and just dont get impatient, eventually they'll come loose without breaking anything.

Thank you all. Just got that nasty bolt off. A lot of elbow grease, banging, liquid wrench, the help of a neighbour, prayers, etc... got it high enough so I could grab it with a wrench and yanked the life out of it.

Too bad the engine isn't held together with the same force.
