wow alot of money rapped up in a paint job...i would so do it but my hubby would kill me for spending that kinda money ,,,needless to say he's really not into the whole car thing...lol...thanks for the imfo ...and cant say it enough sweet car,let me know if you ever wont to sell ya a cold day in hell right..
Yeah, I would never sell it. I would lose so much money it isnt even funny. It is kinda one of those projects where you have to go into it knowing that there will never be a return on investment. But that also frees you to build it to your taste and yours alone.
The other bad thing is that it is an absolute magnet for everything. Ever summer SOMETHING happens. One year somebody kicked the door, another my ex keyed it, last year a bunch of rocks flew out of a dumptruck, this year something hit the rear bumper. It is never ending.

Pictures don't give it justice, it was a cell phone and
very bright out at the time.. looks decent enough.
Fresh built modded L98, a torque monster!
It looks good enough to post, but It'll be painted within
the next 60 days. I would like to remain this Gun metal
Grey metallic with smoke Grey GFX, looks subtle..yet
classy. I am a huge fan of Artic White.. But, My mind
is made up already..
There is a member here with an IROC completely
shaved with the prettiest shade of Grey Ive ever seen..
and probably the best F-body Ive seen on these forums!
Anyway, us guys @ Thirdgen.org have some smoken cars
PPG's Shopline primers and paint, paint codes PPG 4105 charcoal metallic and PPG 5377 for the pewter metallic both of which are just factory GM colors. Body work and paint done by me. Actual work time was about a month but the project took a year from start to finish due to work and weather. Probably about 1,300 dollars in materials and a couple new tools.
In the sunlight, it's got a brown tint to it at angles even though it's a charcoal color.
Overcast day or at night it looks black.

Wish I had a better pic, but that'll have to wait I guess..
The color is Dupont's Vivid Canary Yellow. I did it myself in probably 1.5 months.. Only working a couple nights a week and long weekends.. Had the car completely apart since the car wasn't originally yellow and the first time I painted it, it was a quick splash job.
Cheers,
uh huh, quick splash job. right. but you forgot to mention how many show car mags this thing has been in, lol. it must be like 5 or 6, if not more. all i'm saying is nice ****ing car man. real nice.
My car is in bad need of a paint job.
I have been throwing around multiple ideas.
This is my favorite.
It wouldn't be quite as pictured it would be darker and the white would be silver, with lots of metalflake.

Here is my car the day after we painted it in my garage last year, It still needs wet sanded. We sprayed it with KirkerAutomotive Finishes. It was an Acrylic Urethane Enamel paint, Blue Metallic to be specific. It should look decent once its wet sanded.
Here are two cars that I painted in my backyard patio. I just put plastic around the support beams and put a fan inside. They turned out nice after cut and buff. I did them both in the summer of 05 I think. I took about 3 months for both of them. I did all the work after I got off my 9 to 5. Nothing like running a da sander at 10:00 in the evening!
Dupont super jet black with rockers 2000 chrysler silver ps2
The black 87 in the background of the silver 89 was my first black paint job. It was the best black I had done but it got hit by a land cruiser and now it just has junkyard panels on it. It will be back someday.
Some great looking cars here. I am still working on getting the body smooth but I have settled on the colors. I am going to use Sherman Williams TEC one stage in Hugger Orange with a Black Baldwin-Motion stripe scheme. The center stripe will disapear into the L88 hood on the front. The cove area will also be orange. Here are some examples on a early 2nd Gen. 70BMC.jpg
I've been thinking about painting my Trans Am in that same color, you got any more pics of it? thanks

Yeah no wories, dude.
These are pretty much all the pics I have of it post paint job. Still waiting for the sun to make an appearance before I can get some decent ones but you know what England's like where the sun's concerned.
thanks man, that car looks awesome, now I'd say its between Colorado red or "viper red" for my car.

yeah I actually picked it out a few months ago along with victory red and viper red, then I decided I liked viper red the most. but I have easy access to the paint chip books so I'll probably look up the code tomorrow.

nice cars everybody has here. yea im planning on repainting my 83 camaro. i believe it still has factory paint on it to. but im planning on painting it a metallic black and a neon or some type of bright green for the bottom trim and for the stock rims have the inside of them be black and outlined in a green to. i hope it looks good though... give me your thoughts anybody?
Somebody has posted pics of a lime green Camaro earlier in this thread. It's a really nice colour so reckon it would look great on yours too. Especially if as you said you paint the rims green with black spokes.

yea thats ot the kind of green i was looking for... if somebody could give me a link with car paint codes or something...
I painted my car myself (first paint job/body work ever) about 5 years ago with the help of the book "How to Paint Your Car". It took me about 2 months doing it after work and on weekends when I could.
basecoat/clearcoat
Color: Viper GTS Blue (blue with blue pearl) - would have to look the color code up.
Brand: Whatever NAPA Gives out
I had it down to the metal on the entire car. Grabbed a spoiler off a friends junker and put that on. The first 2 photos are of the new paint, the 3rd photo illustrates why I needed to paint my car.
Where are the pictures???

has anyone had any problems painting their car black? i heard it's hard to get a paint job with black because the flaws/errors show the most with that color.
BTW my car is stock maroon/burgendy

Reason: forgot something
the darker the color you go with the straighter your body work better be. yes black will show everything and white will be a touch more forgiving. I decided on Dupont Chromabase Dark Fiji Blue Pearl and Dupont Hot Hues Silva for the ground effects. I will post some good outside sunny pics as soon as the weather clears up around here.
Whats the acutal code or name for this color ive heard lots of different names but mine is a 1990 firebird with the same color and its chipping pretty bad so i wanted to get it repainted the same color cause it really is a nice color...
This is the only picture of a white/gold Camaro I've ever seen other than my own!
Are you serious?? Me and my dad test drove an 8000 mile z28 with white gold combo the other day just like yours. it had been sitting for about 20 years and it was it mediocre shape but the guy wanted way to much for it so we passed it up.
Yeah, I did google image searches and scoured camaro photo galleries for hours and couldn't come up with one. I know i've seen some with this paint scheme before, but I had trouble finding pics on the internet.
I just bought this one not too long ago. I was hoping to find a black and gold one, but the white and gold looks pretty nice too.
Anyone know the paintcode/paintn ame of that green Kia used a while back, its a really sick lookin metallic green i believe, doesnt look like somethin youd see stock at all.
80schild, yes hopefully later tonight i can see what i got on my computer and try to post. the project has been put on hold so its not completely assembled or final buff, but ill see what i can post for ya.

sorry i have no better pics yet. The gallaxy blue pearl in the paint really pops in the sunlight. The ram air hood was a pita, alot of work with the long board to get it straight. one of these days ill final buff and get some good sunny shots.
