Rear 4th gen seat belts in a 3rd gen?
Anyone have any info on installing rear 4th gen seat belts in a 3rd gen? It looks like they'll fit with slight modding as far as bolting to the body..but i havent checked how they fit with the plastic panel attached.

The 4th gen rear seatbelts bolt up the exact same way as the later 3rd gen rear shoulder belts do. They are a direct swap. If you have an 82-88 f-body though, it's a little more work to go from lap belts to shoulder belts.

are you sure about that...it looks like it'll fit, but the little tab under the retractor that fits into the body appears to be too wide...looks like I have to grind about 1/8" on both sides to get it to fit in, and the plastic surrounding the retractor appears to be a lot wider and taller than the stock one.

Any clue if the front seat belts from a 4th will fit into a 3rd? I've been trying to find decent front and rear seat belt for my girlfriends 87 camaro cause we're changing the color from red to black.

Re: Rear 4th gen seat belts in a 3rd gen?
I know this is a old post but I have just got done doing both front and rear seat belts, the rears will bolt in if you make a grove on both side of the retacters, the part that attaches to the body. The 4th gen are diff, the 3rd gen have a T shape that attaches it to to body, so doing the notch on the sides of the 4th gen rear belts it will slide into place. I hope that makes since. Now the front is direct bolt in if you like the way it looks with the gap were the strap attaches to the floor mount. Well I did't so I modded the 4th gen section that attaches to the floor to fit throught the 3rd gen seat belt retactor cover, that way the gap that is left by the 3rd gen being removed is no longer an issue..... I will take some pics to show what I mean.... I just wanted to add this due to it wasn't adressed on how to get the 4th gen seat belts to look good. the pics will explain what I mean. I will get those tomarrow.
