Paint Stripping

Alright, so I have been wanting to paint the underside of my car.. Now, I have been told to POR-15 the underside of the car, been looking at the process and since I don't have a rotissirie or a hoist/lift.. The application process of the POR-15 will be the best idea due to me having to lay on my back under the car with it up on a few blocks so that I can move around under there reasonably.. I am going to be using the POR-15 Rust Preventative Paint and then the 2 part Hardnose Paint light red to match the car. I was speaking with POR and they said that I would have to strip all the paint that was from the factory for the POR 15 to stick properly.. They have their POR stripper but it appears to be a liquid stripper, being that I have to lay under the car and spray up on the car, I don't think that will work the best for my situation.. I have read on here that many love the aircraft jelly stripper, is this a better fit for my situation? How much of this will I need to strip my whole underside of the car? How much POR-15 will I need to coat the whole underside? How much 2 part Hardnose will I need?

Do you want to paint the underside of your car becuase it's getting rusty, or you want the painted look? I don't think I would endeavor to remove all the paint under there. That would be very difficult and not necessary. Is there undercoating ? If the folks at POR say that it MUST be applied to bare metal, I'd just pick another paint. Rustoleum will go over any chemically clean surface and probably stick well enough. I have an old VW camper that i plan to strip the undercoating off of and then steam clean it and do some spot blasting prior to painting, but I would do it on a rotissery with all the heavy parts of the car removed.....trying to strip a car in working condition would probably not be worth your time. Car is stripped expect hatch, roll cage, k member and rear..

If I am taking the time to paint topside and resto the interior and put in new motor, smooth engine compartment.. Then having a slick and chip proff underside that matches like a candy dream..

Then I want it.. Shouldn't really take that long... just was looking for more of a jell than a liquid..
