Nice/Cheap/Paint?

Anyone ever try this stuff? It looks pretty nice and it has a great price. I'm thinking about painting my car and need advice on what paint to use. Is this legit?

Yeah, that's real cheap for single stage. What color do you plan on spraying?

Their daytona Metalic blue over my current rustic archaic eggshell white.

Re: Nice/Cheap/Paint?

The acrylic enamel is not as durable as the newer base coat/clear coat systems, so you will have to keep up with waxing to protect it from the sun. Being a metal flake color, I would recommend spraying a clear over it to keep it looking good. I see they offer a urethane base coat/clear coat kit for about a $100 more. I think thats the better choice, you'll have better results and it will last a lot longer. Might as well do a decent job since you are painting the whole car!

Re: Nice/Cheap/Paint?

Thanks I absolutely agree with you Rad5. I'm not fooling myself. I'm still in the basic stages of painting i.e. reading about the subject, learning researching. I've been reading a few books the last day and they all point to urethane paints. clearly 100 dollars is well spent for such a drastic difference in final product therefore I will be going with the urethane. Thanks very much for you input, it's much appreciated. Any and all knowledgeable advice is appreciated. Do you guys like the daytona blue metallic?

Re: Nice/Cheap/Paint?

No problem! I am a novice too. Most of my experience comes from trial and error. I have used both single stage and bc/cc paint systems and it's a night and day difference. I would also recommend using the best paint gun you can afford and use the flex additive for the bumpers. I know there is a lot of debate on here about using it. Search the topic and you will see. It's only $5-$10 extra and it works.
