Weight of a couple parts???

I want to drop some weight in my car and ive already done some reductions but what i was thinking about doing were the seats and the ttops, i was wondering if the plastic third gen ttops would fit on an 84 and what the weight differance is. I was wondering also about 4th gen seats, i know they fit, but if i took my non power, cloth seats out, and put in cloth non power 4th gen seats in, would i lose much weight? anything else i could swap in from other 3rd gens that was lighter or even from 4th gens? ive got an aluminum DS, 4th gen gas tank, radiator, fans etc. factory wing was replaced with a fiberglass one, a/c was removed, also put in an a/c block off plate in the firewall. would I lose much by converting to non power windows? or non power door locks? i have use for them.

my car weighs about 3200 right now, its got an ls1/t56/9"

No reduction with 4th gen seats.
Might save a couple pounds with Lexan vs glass T-tops.
Windows - only saving the weight of the motor - but you have to swap out regulators (big PITA) to do manual windows.
Door locks - only saving weight of actuators.

So, with what you mentioned, you've lost 3-4 pounds. Trade those cheeseburgers for salads with oil/vinegar instead of ranch dressing, and you'll lose that in a week without touching the car!

Funny thought ... what about a weather balloon stuffed in the back, filled with helium until it forms to the compartment?

Re: Weight of a couple parts???

I've heard that 4th gen seats are/can be lighter than the stock 3rd gens. But I've also heard that the weight is mainly in the differnt tracks.

I've gone both ways on doors, manual to power and power to manual. Don't let camaronewbie scare you, it's not that big of a hassle. Going from power to manual seemed easier for me, didn't have to run the wiring...which you can remove for even more weight loss. The door locks are easy, just pop out the factory rivets (punch and chisel) then unplug. I'd be willing to bet that you loose more than 3-4 pounds, probably not much more though. Is it worth the effort? That's for you to decide. For an all out race car then maybe. For a daily driver, sometimes it's nice to have thoes conviences.
