GFX to body seals?

Going to be putting her back together after paint soon and wanted to know what you all use to seal around the studs and nuts that hold the GFX pieces to the body? Been a while since I took it apart but remember the factory used some kind of goo around each stud. Any idea what to use?

Thanks

Re: GFX to body seals?

yeah, it's like 3m strip caulk

I did away with it and got some thin sticky backed rubber foam sheet and punched out a bunch of washer like pieces and used those. Check my 87 iroc z build thread, it's in the last couple of pages.

Got the same type of product at NAPA. Worked good on our GFX.

Also called butyl rubber.

I like the punch washers idea. I'll have to search for how it's done.

Take a socket/ pipe, bevel the pipe with a grinder and use it as a dye/cookie cutter hitting it with a hammer. Thats how I make my gaskets. Works great. Now That I have my press I may make dyes.
