Engine: 5.7 TPI
Transmission: 700r4
Help me ID these rotors,...
I bought this brake setup off an 89 GTA. The back brakes have a 9 bolt rear attached to them.
Any idea who makes these rotors?
Any any idea why the back ones are 11.5" while the front are only 10.5"???
The back calipers are aluminum and are made in Aust. and say PBR.
The front calipers are iron and are maybe stock???
When buying brakes pads, I buy them according to the calipers right?
My main question though is what kind of brake lines do I get for these brakes? I am going to Jegs tomorrow to pick some up. I looked at Earl's SS brakes lines and they have different types for front disc/drum rear vs. disc/disc...and for different years too.

The front calipers are the very ordinary cast-iron ones, same as on all the rest of these cars. About the only difference between those and any others, is the threads where the banjo bolt goes in.... maybe.
The rears are the stock 89-up brakes for one of these cars. Yes they were made by PBR. Yes the rear rotors are larger than the front. This is normal on all 89-up ones of these, except the 1LE cars.
You get the 89-up 4-wheel disc brake lines. IIRC it's different from the 88-back ones for the Saginaw rears; those have the metal line going all the way to the caliper, on at least one wheel. The PBRs have a short braided line at each rear wheel.
The rotors are not stock. Look to be the same dimensions as stock, but they're aftermarket.

Thanks, I called up my friend and measured his brakes and they were the same. He has an 89 gta. I wonder why the backs are bigger?
What companies make slotted and drilled rotors for our cars? I know of several ones that are just slotted only.
Here's a question though....Could I swap the front and back brakes with eachother? Or would that be bad because the back disc brakes are notoriously bad on these cars?

Axle/Gears: 2.73 IRS
The rears are larger because GM put TINY, weak front brakes on these cars from the factory. The rear brakes got a nice little upgrade in '89 to the PBR setup. This was the standard 1LE option. The 1LE cars had 12" front rotors and 11.5" rear rotors (or 11.5 front/rear, don't recall front exactly), so the brakes didn't look out-of-place. The '89-up 4 wheel disc cars got the 1LE rear brakes standard because the 82-88 disc brakes sucked. The PBR rear brakes are good brakes and actually do work. They are very good brakes compared to the normal 82-88 rear disc brakes.
You find many more slotted rotors and drilled rotors because drilling rotors is a waste of time. Actually, it tends to make your rotors crack prematurely. Waste of time/money in my opinion. 3 out of 3 I've had developed cracks. One cracked within a few weeks because I had a sticking caliper. They warrantied that one, so I got another one. The original driver's side and the replacement passenger side were both cracked by the time I swapped to my C4HD brakes a few months later.
You can't swap the fronts to back, don't even think about it. Totally different designs that make it impossible unless you make a custom hub for the front.
