rear pads on one side crooked!

Car: 1987 GTA/1998 Explorer
Engine: 355, trick flow heads, zz409 cam, 3
Transmission: 700r4, shift kit, valve body
Axle/Gears: precision 3.73's, auburn diff
rear pads on one side crooked!

it must have been like this with the pads that were on before, because the old pads for the passenger side were worn at an angle. stupidly, i didnt think anything of it, put the new pads on, and while they sit flat on the rotors on both fronts and the drivers side rear, the passengers rear both the inner and outer pads sit at an angle. only maybe 1/3 of the pad, the top part, contacts the rotor. by top i mean the top edge, running along the long edge that runs parallel to the caliper, not that it only contacts on one side. the piston looked fine when i had it off, the pads are seated on the caliper fine, ive driven around a few days like this, set the parking brake, all that, still the same thing. its not pulling to one side when i brake or anything, and aside from the pads on that side rattling when i hit bumps, doesnt seem to be any problem. should i just wait until they wear down where they are fully contacting the rotor or is there anything i can do? could my caliper perhaps be bent?

It does sound like something's bent or binding somewhere.

the calipers seem way too thick to have bent. the mounting pins are fine. i dont see how a bent mount could cause the pads to both be touching the rotor at the top. things got me stumped
im thinking about fabricating some sort of spacers to go on the bottom parts of the pads to have them sit flat. thoughts?

Sounds like caliper spread to me. Pull the caliper off and make sure the "fingers" that hold the outer pad are parallel to the piston. If not, replace the caliper.

Just your typical pad taper experienced with most calipers under racing type conditions. This is why 6piston calipers are so nice. The leading pistions aresmaller thus reducing pressure on the back side of the leading pad edge and making for much more even pad wear and smooth engagement giving a better pedal feel.
