Supercharged 1983 Z28 for sale

1983 Z28

Original numbers matching 305 engine with Holley 144 Supercharger and 5 speed

Description:

Black and gold exterior with black interior and original gold Z28 wheels with like new tires.

Exterior:

NO RUST! NO ROT! SOLID! This was the main reason I bought it. Paint is in bad shape and it needs a new nose and driver fender, both of which I have (in the correct black color even) and will come with the car. All ground effects are in great shape. Does have a crack in the windshield on the lower passenger side.

Interior:

Black interior in good shape. PERFECT black seats and door panels and dashpad, center console pad etc. The only work the interior needs is the rear upper panels where the speaker covers mount need to be replaced. Someone hacked them up to install speakers. Headliner perfect, nice carpet. The interior is FAR ABOVE average.

Drivetrain:

I drove the car to last years dyno day (New England Camaro and Firebird event) and it has been parked ever since. It put down 65 more horse than a stock 305 tpi car. So it went at least 80 trouble free miles last time it was driven and it will drive anywhere. The transmission in it has a broken 5th gear, but shifts fine through the other 4. A good working T-5 will come with the car as well when sold. The rear is a 3.23 posi rear with around 1500 miles since it was rebuilt. The brakes work VERY well and have no issues. It is actually one of the better stopping third gens I have driven.

General driving description: Car runs out well. It has a 600 Edelbrock carb in good working order, but it is a bitch when it is cold. Once warmed up it runs very well. If you try and start it and just take off it will sputter, backfire and **** you off. Warm it up for 5 minutes and you are good to go. Welcome to a carb supercharged car! The supercharger has less than 500 miles on it. New Pro Comp water pump and does NOT run hot. The car is not the fastest thing on the street, but it will move well. Will destroy the rear tires through first, all of second and well into third.

The bad:

I want to be totally honest here. I bought this car on a whim and have come to the realization that it is not something I want to throw more money at, I have thrown plenty at it and it still has needs. First and foremost, the engine starts "knocking" completely randomly and I have no idea why. It is not a rod knock as it is not consistent and will go away.
Transmission related, exhaust related? No idea, but I have put about 800 miles on the car with it doing this so it is not an issue that prevents it from running. Personally, I would buy it with the intention of swapping a REAL motor in it. THIS CAR IS A DRIVEABLE PROJECT!

I paid $1000 for it, and put a $2000 supercharger on it. I have put at least another thousand in it in random parts. So I am in it $4,000. If I part it, I could almost get my $4,000 back. $1500 for the blower, $300 for the seats, $200 for the dashpad, $250 for the rear and at least $1500 in the other "smaller" random parts (ground effects, shift plate, cluster etc, it goes on and on). I have parted dozens of these cars so it is no big deal to me.

I want $2500 CASH which will include a good working T5 and a good front clip. Clip is NOT wrecked, just a slightly dented fender and the dumbarse owner before me cut out the front grille area to make "custom" billet grille which he never got around to doing. It would just need effort to make it a nice car. I feel I am giving the car away at that price, I will not go lower. I am not opposed to parting it out and will do it soon should nobody buy it whole. I would actually prefer to part it, but the fact it is COMPLETELY RUST FREE makes it a waste if I do, but oh well, I have parted nicer!

I can be reached at 801-638-8463. Car is located in Bloomfield, CT. Ask for Brian

Video was taken right after getting the engine back together. Blower belt is NOT on in video.
