| Richard, thanks for the complement and I am anticipating meeting you. Give me a call when you return and we will get together for a little bench racing session!
Mikey, The interior is on it's way. I am still fabricating the dash panel needed to mount the autometers in the stock location but it is almost complete. Other than that I just need to weld in the roll bar and re-assemble everything.
I have always heard the stories from people that start their own business about how hard it is to find time to work on your own vehicles and now I believe them. It seems that everytime I start to work on my car another project comes along that takes weeks on end to complete, and I will always take care of my customers first.
I hope that everyone reading this is ready to step up and get this camaro community pumping here in Edmonton and region. I am going to be having a kick *** grand opening in september that I would like to see everyone that can attend do so. Everytime I go for a drive on the weekend I am lucky to see two thirdgens in the whole night, let's change that and make our presents known!!!
Exclusive to the members of this site no matter where you are from, I will be offering free dyno pulls during the grand opening. That is a service that would normally cost over 100 dollars per vehicle!!! My shop is swamped with fourth gen's and I just want to see you guys represent the thirdgen body style no matter how big of a heap you think your car is. If you are from Calagary or wherever this offer extends to you as well, the more the better.
Thanks guys,
Martin

Martin | Are you gonna be at the shop on Thursday night?
If so - gimme some directions and your cell number (In case I don't have your newest one), and you can show me the beasts in your shop.
Oh - and don't tempt me with that Formula OK?

Car: 1985 Z28 Engine: 305 Carb Transmission: 5 Speed | Hey Martin, your truck pics are lookin' good The pics that i did of your truck are looking really good so far and i should have at least a few of them ready for you in the next day or two.
I also found out that i have a 283 block in my folks' shed. I think i might build that instead of spending the money on a 350 block. I figured for a first project engine, the 283 would be good in my 85 Z28. Your thoughts?

Jeff | Just a dumb question - but why not build your 305 instead of the 283? |

Car: 1985 Z28 Engine: 305 Carb Transmission: 5 Speed | Hey Trevor I would do the 305 that's in the car now, except for one problem... I need to drive the car and i can't afford to do an engine in a weekend.
On another note, if anyone knows of a 350 block kicking around for cheap, please let me know. After talking to a few people, i think a 350 or 383 would be a better way to go than the 283.
And on even another note, if anyone is looking for a 283 block and a set of slightly high performance heads, please let me know.

Car: '86 Z28 Engine: 305 LG4 Transmission: 700-R4 | what places do you go for your engines?
i'm looking for an L98 to replace the LG4 (or at least an easy 350 that will stay serpentine and be an easy drop in)
i'm also looking for a dual snorkel aircleaner, stock w/ hoses and scoops
thanks |

Car: 1982 Z28/1987 IROC Engine: Vortec 350/ZZ3 Transmission: 7004r/7004r | lots of machine shops have a bunch of 350 blocks kickin around, or goto a salvage yard and see if they have an engine pulled. look in the trader as well, usually a block or two for sale for $100 or so |

If you needed to replace the crank, for what you'd spend on a 335 kit, you could get a 350 or 383. |

Car: 1990 Iroc-z Engine: LB9 Transmission: T5 | everyone has a 383. that's sort of the reason i want to go with a 335 or something different at least. i know its going to be harder to make power with a smaller motor but im not trying to build a 600hp monster or something. even if you think its a waste of time, does anyone know where i can get a rotating assembly for the stroker for a decent price?? thanks |

Car: 86 Firebird Engine: 355 4 bbl Transmission: TKO 600 Axle/Gears: 3.73 L/S | If you're serious on the stroker 305, Mopac and Best Buy Performance (both on 170th Street) deal Scat cranks. They make a stroker crank and Keith Black makes the stroker pistons.
You have to deal with tweaking your engine management to work with the increased displacement too. |

| Hey mikey_b!
Lurking around this board for quite a few years, I've seen this 335 stroker kit get mentioned time and time again, yet I have yet to see too many people actually DO it. Under my old userid (before it was corrupted), I originally posted a q about the 305 stroker, only to be told time and time again why should you do this. Frankly, those that say don't do this are mostly right. You can and will ALWAYS make more power and more reliable power with bigger displacement, given that both are aspirated equally. In short, why spend $$$ on a block just to get it close to what a mild 350 would do, when instead you can take that extra cash and make yourself a wild 350.
When I say mostly right, if practicality and a budget are your restrictions, the 335 is NOT your choice. If you have the dough to make your car "unique" in whatever way you think you want to, by all means go for it. It’s your car, so you can be “right” Search on 305 stroker or 335 and you will see many threads on this. After you sift thought the "WTF are you doing building this" flamewars, you will find that there is some good advice for what to do to the block, the balancer, and all other kinds of info. I would advise against posting much on this though, you'll just get another flamewar started. Search and read my friend!
So, if you have the cash, the ambition, and the desire to make this 335, go right ahead. Don't let other's pooh poohing your thoughts stop you. But, if you are like most of us and are on a budget, the advice of taking and rebuilding a mild 350 is advice seriously worth considering.
After all, it is YOUR car, so have fun with it. Do what YOU want. My car is built for driving, not the straight track, so if I listened to every "why pansy autocross" complaint I get from the M-u-l-l-e-t Brothers I've run into, I'd have a tubbed-out slick-wearing dragster. |

If you're worried about it, you can build a 383 and just tell everyone it's a 335. The vast majority of people who look at it are never going to know the difference anyway. |

| Don't worry, you didn't misss out on anything! My new shop fell victim to slow *** builders and clearing city permits. I am just now moving in to the new place and won't be completely set up for another month or so.
If you want to throw your car on the dyno I will cut you a good deal, just give me a call. As for the offer I extended to all thirdgeners on this board, I guess we will have to wait until spring time for the big shin dig. Feel free however to swing by the new shop and check things out this winter.
Later,
Martin

Car: Black 86 iroc-z Engine: 350cid carb'd Transmission: 5 speed | Yes. i took mine out for a rip today but it still spins out a lot. even in 3rd. so i ended a short drive today by leaving 2 black marks in the driveway before putting it away.
All the snow needs to be gone.
Oh if any of you know a place in Edmonton besides JB's that would have a 3" cutout, preferrably electric. let me know. Headers are going in soon i think. |
