holy shlt dude. well i guess if your gonna go with the best might as well have a whole crap load it it then. wut u run.. 3 12" w3v2 with two jl 500/1 amps? good way to spend around 2g's i guess if you have it.

concidering you have this in a carmero though, isnt a little much? cameros and firebird both put out a better sound equality due to its accoustics. that must be insane.

How about a stock 3rd gen CD player ? (RPO U1A)

Most people shudder at the idea of a stock head unit, but factory CD players in third gens are RARE .. My GTA came with the (UX1) cassette player, but I found this CD player while poking around in a boneyard. I grabbed it right away.

The reason I'm using the factory player is because I show the car and enter it in the stock class.. In car shows with strict judging, aftermarket or improper radios will lose you points.

This is an actual shot I took of the radio as it sits in the car.

To help out the sound a bit, I installed Clarion plates in the front and Kenwood 3-ways in the sail panels.. (That's about it )

They aren't as good as I thought.. The seperate tweeters are nice and crisp, but if I hit the plates too hard, I get some distiortion from the regular speakers.. When I turn things up, I have to keep my fade at 40 front / 60 back... I've had them in for about 5 years now.. I guess I should look for something better.

The Kenwood 3-ways in the back are great.. They'll take everything the head unit can dish out

Here's mine:

Kenwood KDC-MP628 HU
Rockford Fosgate FRC-4369 3 ways in the sail panels, 4 inch T142C in the front
Rockford P4004 Amp
.5 farad RF cap
Kenwood 800 W sub

All in a home built and carpeted box... (Well, I guess it isn't ALL in there, but you get the idea...)

hrm what kind of rating does that kenwood sub have? looks interesting.

edit: I also kind of wonder if my posts from 4/1/05 are still being counted... or if my posts to the "new forum" were just deleted from my count.

It's 12 inches, 35-400 RMS watts, and it sounds really good...

Yeah, it was.. Crutchfield's got a great deal right now, 2 for 130... Wouldn't make a difference to me anyway, the amp would have to be more expensive to power it, but it's still a good deal.....

you may consider getting a new box and putting two of them in.

well... for some reason, every car audio place I have been to lately, has told me they really hate hifonics amplifiers... and that they are really cheap and not very good..

is any of that true, or were they just trying to off their autotek, memphis, and ppi amps on me?

hifonics 1800 RMS watt amp = $279 ebay

memphis 1500 RMS watt = $1100 local shop...

sounds too good to be true.... anyone have any REAL experience with hifonics brutus amps?

i have a hifonics brutus 1000watt. i love it. it power my two jl audio subs. i not once have had any sort of problem with it whatsoever. i bought it used. totally this amp is one year old. used to its fullest. i dont believe this amp has ever ran on anything other than 1 ohm. thats what i have it wired to, and so did my friend that owned it before me.

memphis amps are a really good amplifier. they are worth it if you have or want to spend the money on it. my cousin has a single 12" memphis sub with a memphis amp and hits 128db (old mic rating) memphis is a really good quality. but as i said above, i have and own a hifonics and know many others that have or use hifonics amplifiers and have NEVER had any problems with them at all.

and again, ive had my hifonics in use running at 1ohm for one full year and have yet to have any signs of problems.

Hifonics makes some good stuff.

I have a sub in my truck.

I have also dealt with the company on a personal level and they were extremely nice.

Just make sure the amp isn't a refurb.

There is only 1 500/1. The amp on the left is a 300/4. They look like 10s to me. How does that sound? There isn't much room to make the correct sized box in that trunk for 3 subs. I barely had room to make a sealed box for my 12W3v2s.

i knew they were 10's . i knew at least one of the JL amps was a 500/1.

ive never seen a 300/1 or 300/4 JL amp thought. maybe its just cause im not looking for one. cause ive only seen a JL 300/2 in the 300watt series. anyway... good setup though.

Pioneer TS-A4615 4x6"

Actually, really good. I haven't heard much good about Audiobahn, but I like the subs. And I'm sure with a proper (as in not sucky and made by me) box, they would sound much better!

how tight is the response.. i find mine to have decent response and tightness on certain freqs.. but becasue of the ultra small box they are in the deep bass is teh suxors. nuthin below 40hz i think. im looking for tight response and output that can make it rumble you chest like crzy

reminds me of that sony that you have to open up to use the controls...

its not the touch screen version that only opens for cd's, right?

this is the one with the tiny screen on the inside?

I've got a nice set up using the same 12inch Kenwoods that Justin Horne has. These subs were definitely a great bargain from Crutchfield.

Scrapmaker, where did you get that video for your cd player. I have the deh-p860mp premier and can't find any good videos. Also, how did you mount your 4x6 plates? I have the same ones and can't figure out how to mount the drivers side.

which video?

and the easiest way to install the driver's side kappa plate is to get an exact-o knife and tear the crap out of all the ducting...

make sure the speaker fits then fix the ducting with... wait for it.... duct tape!

I didn't even bother with the duct tape, and my vents still work great, the speaker sealed the hole good enough.

The second pic in your first post shows a camaro. That video, or is it just a pic of a car?
