Re: better than Kicker L7 15"???

in all seriousness i'd check out the new rockford P3 and the alpine type E subs. i tested them both out in the store the other day and they sounded really nice. personally, i run 2 rockford 8'' P1 subs through an alpine 400W 2-channel amp and i've had sound tech friends of mine say the bass levels are just right- not too much not too little but enough to where it still rattles the car and sounds really good. the best part, at least i think so, is that you can hear it if you're next to it but not when you're 3 blocks away, which is nice.

Re: better than Kicker L7 15"???

RF p3's will never touch an l7 and an alpine e is laughable , good subs in all but they wont touch the L7 , maybe in sound quality but not in spl which is what he is looking for to high louder DB

i would check out

www.ficaraudio.com

and a BTL 15 would be the ****

i am getting FI next time i upgrade my subs i like my alpines now so i don need to upgrade them yet

sounddomain.com
onlinecarstereo.com
sonicelectronix.com
hifisoundconnection.com

there are a couple cheaper places to go. but are good quality.

imo jl audio is pretty much one of the top top top subs to buy as for sq, spl is pretty incredible to on some of those, a little pricey, but worth it imo.

I have two of the Memphis "quad spoke" mojo 15" subs collecting dust.... I hit 153 on the termlab meter with them in my trans am. They have only been burped about 5 times.

How do they hit harder if the L7's are a step up from the cvx's? My wife has 2 10'' cvx in her galant and a 600.1 zx. and they sound just like a cvr but wit a lil juice. But anyway the specs are the same for both Peak/rms 2000/1000. If anything the square would hit harder because it has a square cone which moves more air, therefore getting more decibels. Check it out @ kicker.com

CERWIN VEGA STROKER 15''. Heres a link to a 12''. The 15'' isn't much more.

Re: better than Kicker L7 15"???

Mine's bigger than yours, what ever...

Check the specs on the subs...
Just cuz a sub needs 2000 watts to run it doesn't make it efficient...
Check the Db @ 1 watt per meter rating for each sub...
A 90 Db @ 1 watt vs a 93 Db @ 1 Watt (3 db difference) is a notable gain & usually takes twice the watts from your amp to do so... (so twice the watts to make the 90 Db sub play 93db...) Find the balance between power handling and efficiency...

Re: better than Kicker L7 15"???

Well a Sound Splinter RLS would do it, but you're looking at over $500. I'm not sure if their RLP would beat out a L7 as far as SPL. But the SQ you would get would be awesome.

Re: better than Kicker L7 15"???

look at an mtx thunder 9500. the 12 can be had for 350 and up. its a nasty nasty sub, i have a pair. they make the l7 and even the jl w7 look like dookie.
flat wound voice coil and i swear mine do 3" of linear peak to peak excursion
powered by orion 5000d.

sorry just checked the mtx website it has over 4 inches of mechanical excursion!!!!
they have a video on their site of the 9500 living long after the l7 smoked up and then the w7 died too.

nevermind this thread is like 7 years old

look into a audiobahn immortal sub. A buddy of mine ran 2 10's pushed well over 130 db's a 12 or bigger would be sick! He had each of those 10's powered by a MTX 1501D amp!

heres a link to his cardomain that shows his set up! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2061577/2

Among all the given brands here I think you should go for Jackhammer Superwoofer. You may also try to reconsider Audiobaun.
