What should I get?

Here is what I wanna do, Buy one 10' and an amp that will power it ferrily well. I will keep this system for a while, then I will buy another 10' plus a box for 2 10's and another amp. So here is the question, I wanna get (10',amp,box for one 10') What names should I buy? I want to spend less then 400 dollers for the basic. I will be putting a ton of money into it just as soon as school gets out and I can work 80 hours a week.

You can build a box yourself for less the $50. Figure $100-150 for a decent sub, like JL or Fosgate. Then around $200 for a good amp. Get at least 50x2 RMS. Names like Fosgate or Alpine V-12s come to mind.

Go JL audio for your sub. I was running one JL10, my old fronts, and rears with a ALPINE MRD-F752classT (check out that amp it works wonders) and the JL10 would provide clean tight bass. You can get huge cheap subs that will rattle the car apart or go for the nicer subs that you will really appriciate listening to music with.

In order to give an accurate setup a few things need to be answered. First would be your price range (got that). Next would be what kind of music do you listen to? Rap or like rock/metal? this determines the size and accuracy of the the sub. If you like rap chances are you want something pretty loud and boomy but not as accurate. If you like Rock you probably want a sub that can keep up with the music and is farily accurate.

I think Justin's break down of the price is very reasonable. I would try and find a lager amp for the subs though. 50x2 won't get very loud before it 1)starts to distort or 2)starts clipping.

as far as the amps go Alpine makes good amps but they can get kinda pricey. Personaly I would look into USAcousticws or Cadance. Subs, Alumapro makes some nice subs and so does Audiobahn if you are on a tight budget.
