Rather than cross post pictures, you can see the new door panel progress here https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/004259.html

Carl that looks sooo good! I'm guessing you changed your mind about mounting the 8's with the kickpods(?) I was just thinking the other day about the 8's you were planing to put beside the kicks and thought "I'd love to put some larger midbass put front." Just wondering how far does it stick out?

lookin good!

what kind of material is that on the door ? Hard to tell in the pic.

Man, it makes me wish I took pics of the doors I made for my old thirdgen.

Heh, If anyone happens to find a 91 V8 Firebird with a Alpine 7940 cd player in it, with built out doors for 6 1/2"s, and a 10" W6 where the storage box goes in the back, do me a favor and snap some pics

Gave up on the 8's in the kicks for a few reasons. Difficult to get a speaker with 3.5" mounting depth between the 5 1/4" kicks and the brake pedal so not good for mounting. Also I looked into what I would need to move in order to cut through the floor boards and it just wasn't worth it when I could build out the doors for the same end result.

Mike, just fleece right now. I haven't glassed them yet. Ultimately they will be covered completely in a single piece of HF vinyl and maybe a brushed aluminum insert somewhere in the mix to blend in with the rest of the install...I'm still playing it by ear at this point with no set objective. I know what is to be installed, but not sure what I'm going to end up with install wise when all is said and done.
