Shoulda taken it to Landon! It does look really great though, even considering the blemishes.

I think that's where my 91 will be going when it ever gets to the point of re-paint.

I was wondering if you would pop in and check up on this old girl. You have been there from the start lol. It does look good, and should look even better with the flaws repaired. Supposed to get it back tonight....

They grow up so fast. It seems like only yesterday you dragged her out from underneath that tree...

So true! It feels like a long time, but really hasn't been all that long considering where it came from.

Ok pics...

Got it back this afternoon, and it looks so much better on every panel. There is two small spots that are not perfect, but everything else looks much better.

A reflection shot of the wax we used on the IROC... the car is still dusty from its paint being polished, but thought this was pretty good

The wheels on the IROC are sick. Love them.

May I suggest you detail and get the taillights looking squeaky clean? They kinda stand out looking all faded next to the brand new paint and emblems.

Those have a crack... I got a mintyz set all sanded and polished waiting to go on. Just didn't have them to install last night. Tomorrow

I was able to put on a couple other small parts I had sitting around waiting for the car, but didn't take any pics. Got a new brake pedal pad, and front ashtray to replace the missing one. I also installed my ACC embroidered Z28 floor mats from my 91, and was a little bummed to see how much a color change the floor mats have made, since I bought them with my ACC carpet kit for the 91. Still look better than the 4th gen mats I had in there.

That's why I took my Recaros out when I gave my car to the painter. At least you could have a new seat cover made. Sucks though.

Yeah I didn't even think I would need to do that, but whats done is done now.

Princess... AKA Thecovergirl, was awesome and had another seat back whipped up the next day and should actually be in my mailbox by the time I get home from work. She was super cool to drop what she was doing to help a customer in need. Can't say enough about her amazing customer service.

It came back much better. A second round of cut and buff did the trick with helping get that glass look. Its been fun getting all these little pieces I have been saving on the car finally.

Paint and taillights look much better, it's a far cry from about 6 months ago!

Do you have any plans on what to do next?

Yeah I'm gonna show it in a couple local shows all while trying to sell it.

Re: I'm in trouble... 92 Z03 Z28 Vert

Got new brakes on the rear end of it last night and flushed the coolant again today. The coolant was rusty and had debris in it from sitting all those years. I flushed it last year after the intake gaskets, but I started to see some rustyness showing up in the bottle, so had to get it back to right. Gonna polish the glass, mainly the windshield either tonight or tomorrow. Kinda excited to see how this process works as I have never used a glass polish before.

Don't get your hopes up. If the windshield is pitted, replace it. Not that expensive to replace them on these cars.

It has very little pitting, but it has scratches from lack of good wiper blades, and the passenger has a scratch from worn window guides. My buddy that is helping me, owned a glass company and bringing all his glass polishing goodies

Yeah I will. Not sure how available the products are. My buddy is the national glass polishing trainer for Super Glass windows, and he says they developed their own products for this procedure. Only one other person in CO that even does this process. He does cars from all over the country. I had no clue it was that specialized of a process, or he was that good at it. I'm excited. Might have him do the 91 just to polish it up too.

I hope it all gets worked out for you. In your opinion, what were the pros and cons when deciding to paint the stripes v. applying vinyl repros? Since my project is very similar, I'd value your opinion.

So we polished both the windshields on both cars, and I tried to take pics, but honestly you cannot tell a difference in any of the pics I took. The scratches are gone, but you can't tell in pics. Sorry guys.

I think that I would probably go with putting on vinyl stripes if I were doing it over. Little more original. We did mine in paint cause it already was painted. I could see some advantages of paint as far as polishing/waxing is concerned.

I think painting is the way to go. Much easier to care for the paint and you don't have to worry about replacing again when they start to peel.

It sure did! I'm really proud of it and what I have done.

I really am. I honestly want a sport coupe in the worst way, and slam it down ungodly like haha! I'm having a lot of fun with the convertible though.

Thank you! I just got notice that my 91 was by the editors of Super Chevy magazine to be in their best of the best competition.

If you get a chance (everyone) please vote for a 3rd gen to win!

Thanks on both. I'm really hoping I can pull out a win on those 1st gens. It would be the first 3rd gen to ever win a regional.

Thanks again!

Wouldn't that be awesome? 1st gens are just a little overdone, something more original like a 3rd gen should win in my book.

Just finished reading your thread. Great find and great build!! I have a question that I haven't found the answer to yet. I just bought a 91 z vert that's red and my questions lies with the wheels. I see a lot that have the red inserts and mine are not. Is there a place where I can find out if they should b red??? thanks for your help. congrats on the awards

Yeah! There is seriously only like 4 non-first gens that have been picked this year... it would be the first time a 3rd gen has done it in this program! I'm really hoping. I wish there was a way to know how many votes had been placed to know if I need to pound the pavement and hit up the neighbors and random strangers at the grocery store and stuff LOL!

Pretty sure its in the RPO codes whether the wheels are body color or not. I never liked it before this car, but now I really like the color in the wheels.
