R12 Hose Replacement

I have an 83 Camaro that needs new hoses installed. I am using an R12 replacement refrigerant.

Can new hoses be re-crimped back on the fittings? Somebody told me that this wasn't possible anymore because the only hoses available are the barrier type which will not fit the old style fitting.

If that's the case, how are replacement hose constructed? Do they have different fittings to mate with the barrier hoses?

Thanks!

Larry
