Installed fan switch but need opinions
Hi all. I've installed a Hypertech fan switch (succesfully) via a relay. But due to being a RHD vehicle, I have had to install it on the drivers side (my passengers side).
Would this make any difference to the temps it is seeing? It is kicking in fine, but is taking a long time to stop (even when the engine has been off for awhile). Admittedly I have only tried it with the car stationary so it isn't getting any air flow pushed through the radiator (other than the fans themselves). It almost seems like it is picking up the temp of the actual block not the coolant.
The side it should go on is really hard to get to due to the steering column. The temp gauge sender is in the thermostat housing.
Thermostat is a 160F, fan switch is Hypertech 4026 (on at 176F).
Cheers.

IMO,having a fan run after the car is off is really hard on your battery/charging system. There not made to produce a power supply for extended amounts of time only a strong output it uses to start the car., that's it.I only run my relay to a "ignition hot only" that way the 16" fan I have does not drain the battery while the car is off. Sorry I could not answer your questions.

I've only got it running after the engine is off just to check out when the fans would actually stop. Normally I wouldn't have it like that and they would go off when engine off. But I'm really more concerned if it is ok to have the switch on your drivers side as opposed to the passenger side, where it should be.

Side is rather irrelevant.
Having the fan(s) run after turning the engine is pointless since the coolant is no longer circulating (unless your drag racing I guess).
Fans running, engine off, the fan(s) are just blowing air across the engine cooling the block from the outside in.

Thanks Deadbird.
Thats exactly what I thought. I'm guessing the temps inside the engine, when it isn't moving and off, can stay high for a long period, hence the fans not going off when the car is just sat there.
Cheers.
Jonno.
