Help with error and flags

I've just spent the last couple of weeks logging and making changes to my VE tables as per BMmonteSS and his past posts (Free Tune and BML correction excel file). I also purchased the racetronix 255lph walbro pump with wiring kit and I noticed during a couple of logs that I was getting the Fuel Pump Relay Failure flag in the error codes (winaldl) but no SES lights. It seems to have gone away today though. Any thoughts?

Also, in the flag data I'm getting the Old High Gear flag.

As for the Old High Gear Flag, I wouldn't worry about it. There is some strange flags and such in the TBI ALDL streams.

The FP Failure Code is something to be considered. Should be malf 54.

What the ECM looks for is the FP voltage after key-on and before cranking. It is the voltage from the relay to the fuel pump.

This malfunction can be caused by either a bad relay, or too much current draw from the pump. Or both. With the new FP the relay (old?) may be marginal.

I replaced the fuel pump with the unit from racetronix, i've had no fueling issues. With their wiring kit they have a separate relay and power line that runs seperately to the alternator so the pump receives full battery voltage. It seems to have stopped though. As I said the aldl shows malf 54 but i'm the ecm isn't sending any faults (no SES)?

Thanks.

The malf 54 may be masked off, so the SES doesn't light on it.

You still need to run the FP voltage to the ECM. Not only for the FP malfunction test but also for the injector voltage. The injector PW corrections are based on the fuel pump voltage input to the ECM.

This doesn't have to be the actual FP voltage, but it does need to be representative of the voltage the injectors are getting.

Thanks RBob, I have to say you're a real asset to this community and once I get some more tuning experience below my belt i'm going to invest in your EBL.

Anyways, the racetronix kit that I have for the fp includes wiring that connects from the output of the alternator and obviously follows down to the back of the car and has connections that tie into the stock harness with a separate relay for power. I don't know why but the flag doesn't come on anymore...

Also, I reinstalled my MSD 6A box and now I'm getting the EST flag in winaldl but again no SES, everything seems to be OK, i've been following BMmonteSS ve tuning techniques and things continue to run smoothly, i'm just concerned about these flags.

Thanks again.
