Memcal question

Okay, I am looking for a 2nd memcal for my ECU (16198259).
What I need is limp home mode for a 5.7l engine. my current memcal is for 5.0l.

I have acquired the memcal from a 90 truck 5.7l. As my ECU uses a separate ESC and knock sensor which I will match to my motor, and I intend to uses a Moates adapter to allow 'tuned' chip, will this unit work. All I think I will functionally use from this Memcal are the 2 small chips 14 + 16 pin for the limp home mode.

Any advise?

Your 5.0 MemCal will work for your 5.7, AS LONG as the 5.0 MemCal is made for the vehicle that is gonna run it. Limp mode runs fairly decent if the PROM fails. I know this from experience. When I got my 86 IROC (which I thought it had a 305), I would constantly run into sever problems. But the limp mode always got me home. After I threw a rod, me and my uncle yanked the engine and I found out that the block was a 350. So even after replacing the bad engine with an other 350, I still ran my 5.0 MeCal until I began to convert from 305 to 350 components. I eventually got a G1 adapter and had a friend burn a EPROM with a 87 350 BIN File to properly run my engine as its supposed to. So yes, you can run a 5.0 MemCal as long as you use the Moates G1 Adapter with a coded EPROM.
