Quick feedback on AXXD for 355 please!

OK, so I'm hoping to fire up my new 355 motor with a T5 shortly. Aluminum heads with fairly mild cam (sub .500 lift), and compression should be close to stock. Car used to be a 305, and I'm still using all the stock TPI stuff. I'm comparing the AXXD data with AUJP.

I've done all the obvious things in TunerPro, such as changing the cylinder volume and injector constant. I left the idle stuff the same, since I'm assuming the difference between the AXXD and AUJP in this area is largely due to the manual vs. auto tranny, and I'm still running a T5. Same with fan data, nothing was touched there.

AIR minimum temp has been bumped up to the max because I gutted my smog pump. Is there any flag I need to turn off in order to prevent some self diagnostic throwing a code? I can't see any myself. In fact, I didn't touch any flags.

Highway fuel and spark mode were enabled on the AXXD, I have copied over all the relevant data from AUJP in this area, which effectively prevents the ECM from going into highway mode. Does anyone know why the 350 autos do not have this enabled, but the 305 manuals do? I felt that messing with lean cruise was a bad idea for my new engine, because I am very new to this, hence I felt simply disabling it for now was the way to go.

My specific questions involve the spark advance tables and volumetric efficiency...I'm not sure which tables to copy in from AUJP. I'm not experienced enough to know if the different values are due to the changes in engine displacement of the different transmissions. The main spark advance table is more aggressive under certain conditions for AUJP (low RPM / high load) but less aggressive in other places.

I'm not looking for the perfect tune right off the bat, I just want the car to start safely. I have data logging equipment so I can work on specific changes later on.

So if anyone has done this swap (I'm sure it is fairly common), I'd love to hear from you about the aforementioned tables, as well as anything else I may have missed!

Re: Quick feedback on AXXD for 355 please!

I am using s_AUJP with AXXD spark tables, as well as any IAC, AE and DE stuff copied over from the 5-speed bin. I am running a TPISZZ409 cam 287/287 .555/.555 lift with 112 LSA and Trickflow 195 CNC heads with the SLP T-RAM. What I did was compare the AXCN bin which is the 350/6-speed bin from a vette with the AXXD bin and made assumptions as to what would work better for a 350. I chose the AXXD because the timing curve seemed more conservative than the crazy table in AXCN.

Right after my manual trans swap, I drove the car 30 miles to get her home on a modified AUJP bin with the VSS disconnected. She did alright. As for a starting point, AXXD seems like a good choice. Obviously, depending on the size of the cam, it will be less efficient down low, and therefore the stock VE tables will be too rich at the lower rpms. What I did was take away fuel at the lower rpms and purposely fatten up above 3400rpms to prevent a lean condition. Then tune from there. Good luck. Should be a fun experience. I'm learning a lot through trial and error. My setup with a lightweight flywheel and Spec 3 clutch mated with a big cam have really made me learn a lot about tuning.

Re: Quick feedback on AXXD for 355 please!

Id use the S-AUJP bin. It already has the SA table for aluminum heads in it. just set the flag for manual. And change the cylinder volume to 726 and injector flow rate to match your injector if different from 22 lb.

You have same setup as I do and mine is perfect for my engine. If you want I can send my bin which has been tweaked a little. send me a PM if you want it.
