If you recently set the baseline timing, maybe the ESC by-pass is not connected all the way in and has worked itself loose. I know for sure that disconnecting the by-pass will give you a code 54.
I would check the connection and reset the code and see what happens.
Good luck,
Ozzy

Re: electronic spark control module

I have a 1988 Trans Am GTA 5.7 350 engine. I was driving bout 55mph down a city highway when the engine just shut off but I still had electral power cuz my stereo was still on, ligths, etc and everytime after that I tried starting it and engine just turns and doesnt kick over.. This is what ive done to try to solve problem, replaced with a new distributer cap, coil and rotor and still not starting! I also found under the passerger side dash which is a little yellow module and says on module is this"GM AC Spark Plug" should I replace this too?? Is this the Ekectronic Spark Control Module also?? Im planning on replacing the Ignition Control Module too which is located below the distributer! Thanxz for ur help
