digital cluster trip computer problem
I just posted another quesiton about speedo voltage but thought Id' check this out too...
About 2 years ago I retro-fitted a dig dash. EVerything works great except the trip computer. The display comes on for about 10 seconds after ignition and goes off and stays off until the car is started again. Is this due to the display or an electronics problem.
I managed to get a spare electronics board for the trip computer, but this is missing the main chip. Would it work without that chip?
If not, I know (From reading up) that if I remove the chip from the existing trip computer it would create an error message in place of the mileage reading, but would all the other trip computer functions work as normal? I'd prefer if the old donor car's mileage was blanked out by an error message anyway (but so long as all the other functions still work)...
thanks!
