Power Windows
Power Windows
Hello all I have been hanging around here a couple weeks as me and my son bought a basket case 88 z and we have begun working and aquiring parts for it to try and put this thing back together.
The reason I am posting is that one of the problem areas of the car was the doors, well I got a killer deal on some nice doors on ebay picked them up and they are all power have everything I need just need to strip them down sand em up and get them ready for paint. The best part of it is that the original doors were all manual and the new ones I got are power, so I figure I will jump the motors and get the windows down so I can strip the doors, so today me and Jr go out and try for like 2 hours to get the windows to drop to no avail My question is how the heck do you get these things to drop I pulled the door panels back and pulled the wires for the window motor straight out and jumped one across the positive terminal while grounding the motor on the the neg batt and got nothing both doors same thing, now in my not to distant past I have worked with just about every type of car and I know that fords you can jump the motors like this to see if they are any good and they spin no problem but for some reason these wont do anything. Do I need to pull the whole thing from the door and if so does that mean I have to drill the rivets to get the tracks out?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as we (me and the boy) were getting quite pissed trying to get these things stripped down and I really cant get anything done till I get the windows down. Thanks ahead of time.
